NW, you asked a valid question of Marc here:

BEGINS
you have given a categorical assurance on at least two previous occasions, after very prolonged and acrimonious debates, that you would in no circumstances refer material posted on this board to any outside agency.

"NW, all here, visible and or not..... I offer my solem oath that I would never divulge anything said either in public or in private here or otherwise.

Your threat "There are other, more poingnant avenues to persue this. I shall do that...." appears to contradict that. Am I misunderstanding you, or is your word not your bond?

This is a KEY question if other posters are ever to feel comfortable revealing personal information or views here.
ENDS

I have been away. I am not going through all the posts to find out. I would like to know "Has there been an answer?"

I haven't seen an answer on the board - though I suppose it's possible I missed one if it has been removed by the moderator: I was at work this afternoon and so not logged on here. Neither have I had any e-mails on this subject (which I'd discourage, anyway).

Disappointing indeed.

The board is, of course, spidered by search engines. Whatever is posted on it is thus wholly available for all and searchable by all. But that is not the point.

The point is that I do not take kindly to anyone making any form of threat, veiled or open. Such things prejudice this virtual place. Such things are bullying. From my perspective this board should allow all topics, however distasteful, to be discussed. When one user seeks to stop others from this I find that abhorrent. However I have been away and I have no idea what has been removed, so I am speaking from a position of ignorance.

Once that ignorance has been turned into knowledge I will decide what action to take.

If this has already been deemed by others to be unsuitable to be aired in public I am happy to receive emails on the matter.

So if I read this write Marc responded to my post (which took an offended/ offensive tone) with an insult, has had that post and a subsequent reply removed and now instead "other avenues" are being pursued?

Well those other avenues don't seem to be private discussion. So what, I'm being threatened with police action over... an intellectual debate?

I'm not foolish enough to break child pornography or age of consent laws. I know the "paedophile" hysteria has people whipped up into such a frenzy that even-handedness could not be expected from the legal system in this regard.
So whatever my opinions are, even whatever my desires are, I am not a criminal.

What scares me is the idea that discussion on an anonymous and supposedly "safe" site could lead to such threats. Especially from someone like Marc who in the past I have spoken with privately and in a friendly manner. And who I have defended.

The sad thing is, being accused is akin to being guilty in today's society. Being under investigation by police means one has done something wrong, regardless of the evidence. Were anything to come of this, it could hurt me, for being innocent.

I hope it was just a threat. I hope it was a misunderstanding and isn't even a threat.

I have made my response....

It apparently was deleted.

Whatever......

Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

Care to repeat the gist of it as inoffensively as possible for the peanut gallery?

Then I will discover what it was from the Mystery Moderator, and will base my decisions on that.

I do not find threats in any form acceptable.

I don't know yet, Saben. When I know I will make a decision. I find threats wholly offensive and outside the spirit of this place.

We do need to be aware always that the net is not a private thing, but lack of privacy is not the same as having a threat made.
