The title is provocative. The essay is worth reading. But read all of it, don't start, assume, and stop. At the end there is a link to his follow-up essay. That needs to be read as well.

Frankly, we think such laws are silly. They do young people more harm than good. How can you possibly ask questions on a gay forum without coming out to your parents if you need consent?
