However, it does lead to the interesting and rather surreal move of Turnham Green

Ah, but I can block you if I go to Earl's Court in one move. So you don't get any points for that.

Earl's Court.

However, with Arbuthnot still invoked, it can only mean a lateral transition to...... Denmark Hill.

Tottenham Court Road, as Timmy is missing his move.

I'll counter that with a move to Finchley Central

... I would have liked to say Leicester Square, but if I stay on the Piccadilly line I only get half points. So it'll have to be Charing Cross instead. Sorry, Steve!

but would someone please take the trouble to explain the intricacies of this game. Maybe then others could join in. Unless, of course, this is private stuff: in which case you should take it off board.

The paradox has often been noted that the United States, founded in secularism, is now the most religiose country in Christendom, while England, with an established church headed by its constitutional monarch, is among the least. (Richard Dawkins, 2006)

You've never heard of the BBC quiz "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue"? (Hint -- this whole thread is about it...) It is a game played on that programme.

As for the rules, the version I have is called "Mornington Crescent: A Simplified Strategy Guide" (Marchmont Press, 1982), which I found in a second hand bookshop in Castle Cary a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure it's out of print, though you may be able to find a version in a specialist or second hand book catalogue.

Failing that, there's always Google. Smile

Agreed, the more play, the merrier!

There's a Wickipedia article that explains all, at:

So, Charing Cross eh? A stealthy move.  [message #41580 is a reply to message #41576] Wed, 28 March 2007 12:00 Go to previous messageGo to next message

An intriguing move, Steve -- but I'm going to sit at Euston for a while to prevent you from using the Northern Line. Smile

Damn! I thought I saw Mornington Crescent in three. I'll have to make use of the Garden-Hardy sacrificial manoeuvre to get to....Farringdon.

It happens. We had an island platform delay there. I've set up a game in a new thread.
