I have just come across a British novelest who is new for me. His name is Simon Raven and he published about 25 books from the late 50's to the early 90's. The Gay Men's Press has republished his first novel The Feathers Of Death which I recently came across. From the brief editor intro it appears that the author's personal life was rather colorful. I'm finding it a pretty good read. However, all of his other books seem to be out of print. Does anybody know anything about him?

Thanks,
That was exactly what I wanted to know. He sounds like he would have been fun to know.

I read his Alms for Oblivion series for a weird reason.
"Tim, you should read this, it's a good book!" John, the boy who sent em so many mixed signals thrust the work "Fielding Gray" into my hands
If you read it, Fielding seduces a younger boy, Christopher. Christopher has premature ejaculation and Fielding screws up bigtime and semi-rejects him. Christopher later shoots himself after appearog to ply for hire outside an army barrakcs
I actually don't like Raven's writing style. I only read it because my wonderful boy told me to. I never worked out the message he was trying to give me.
The main Raven themes are nanny and semen stains on bedlinen.
