Umm, I didn't really understand the joke (between us - not at all) but the funny thing is that I am also part german (father's side) . now that I read it I don't get how this is funny either.
about the name well I'll just say it had something to do with a FAILED attempt to impress a girl (among others). The full story on the six o'clock or NOT!

well...as far as i know he is not all that active in the music business anymore...type in "Gil Ofarim" in some search engine and you should find some sites. i think so anyway...
he wasr ather famous in Germany and in Thailand. i think.
