There's a couple here who has been in this biz (sometimes a lot) longer than me; Tim, David and Mihangel for example, the Composer and others too. What I was wondering about is your READERS.

Has any of you ever received a response (that you can be fairly certain) originating from a woman? Ie, is there any females interested in gay teen erotica?

Well, I'm sure there are bunch of them SOMEWHERE out there in this world, but is it common enough to 'register' in your inboxes?

Any input welcome and appreciated!

I don't have any evidence of enthusiastic female readers of gay male fiction, but if you stroll across to Dabeagle's Doghouse
at http://www.dabeagle.com/ you'll find a female WRITER of gay male fiction - check our 'Preppie and the Punk'. This isn't a recommendation, mind you - just an observation!

haven't been posting in a while. Smile

um...in resonse to your question...yeah! i dunno whether it's my writing but for example in response to my german gay stories i got 50% of the e-mails from females and 50% from males. with my english writings...well...once in a while there's a girl, but it's more seldom.

something females really enjoy is gay fanfiction. 90% of the writers of that are female...no idea why though.

love,
brian

I'm female and I am very interested in gay erotic fiction, not only the teen stories tho. I know at least 8 other women that share my interest and are on various boards.

women enjoy the romantic gay stories because they focus more on the tender, emotional side of guys than most mainstream "macho" romance stuff. I'm paraphrasing, but you get the gist. Ien - oh, Hi - haven't seen you here before! - can you validate/invalidate that?

From what I've heard, all the above is true (though I dunno about Brian's German public). There certainly are female writers (and good, too), and I understand gay celebrity fiction is very popular with women. Other authors, it seems, get very mixed bags, some with a lot of feedback from women, some with none or hardly any. Myself, I've only ever had one 'fan' who identified herself as female, and I doubt there've been any others disguised.

And I have had several responces from women. But what does it matter??

Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

Hi everybody!

I have several female readers who write to me about "Holding On For Dear Life".

But no females (that I know of) have written to me about "Larry's Love" unless they have already been reading "HOFDL" that I know of. Same with "Green-Eyed Monster" thus far.

I have no idea why that is, just answering Lenny's question.

It's interesting to me. Well, of course, all fans are equally welcome.

I have heard others comment on how many of the fan/slash stories are female, so I agree with Brian about that observation.

Karla's story on Beagle's story is interesting to me, not just because she's a female, but also because I think she's a teen-ager. I'm always interested to see what teens are themselves writing, since I don't want to lose sight of the real deal as my Geezerdom advances...

Another very VERY good female writer of gay romance is writing "Human Condition" at Nick Archer's site, by the way. And she's waaay nice to talk with, as well. THat's a story recommendation, no disclaimers needed!

...I was just curious.

Anyway, I seem to have received at least one mail from a woman, namely the above mentioned Karla Schultz. I didn't know it at first (for some reason I did not think of it as an obviously feminine name at the time), but after seeing the "Preppy and the Punk" story recommendation and reading the first part of it I looked at the Contact Author link and remembered that email address... I looked through my archive and there she was...

A thank-you note was promptly dispatched, it seems to be a really nice and warm story and I look forward to reading the rest of it now that I am back from the gym.

I have had one female respond. A very pleasant surprise, but then I have read and enjoyed most of the stories cited above, and for the most part, knew the authors were female. But what surprises me is there are not more negative comments, or even flames. I really expected to see some, especially since my story is in the adult-youth section.
