So many people are here. But what brought you? Why "here"?

It was something of a long and winding road for me (please pardon the Beatles allusion, Tim!).
I guess it must have started the day I found the Nifty Archive and started reading. I found myself singling out for particular praise stories written by this person who signed himself "It's Only Me from Across the Sea". Finally, one story (unfortunately, I can't recall which one) emboldened me to pluck up the courage to send him a piece of "fan e-mail". It was also about that time I visited his website for the first time, and through it found the message board. I lurked there for quite a long time (and with ever-increasing regularity) even after Tim and I got to know each other better (first through an exchange of e-mails and then on AIM). One day, I saw a posting on the message board (I can't recall the topic now) that was sufficient enough to "push my button" and cause me to post a reply.
And so, here we are!

Let's see...First, there was Nifty, an accident of web-surfing, I think. I don't remember anybody telling me it was there, at least.
Then I found myself at Glass Onion, reading Dave's "A New Life" series, and looking for other good stories. Yours and Comicality's were the next I found. You and Dave and Comsie were the first authors I wrote to. You and Dave between you convinced me to post my first attempts at writing 2 years ago now.
Why do I stick around? This community hasn't had any flame wars, for one thing.
I also like that it's international, and not too "American". I like the mix of older and younger people here, it's not all one or the other.
Also, it's not too big, with too many regulars to keep track of. It's not too political or full of posturing people with agendas bigger than personalities.
I think most people here are what they appear to be, which isn't always the case elsewhere.
That enuf reasons for now? Hehehe

Well, let me trace back my steps.
I was 15 when I first started wondering about my feelings towards younger boys. I went online one day and decided that I would try and find some people online whose attractions are the same as me.
It took me almost 12 months before I found someone in a MIRC gay chatroom who was a BoyLover. He directed me to "Comicalitys Shack Out Back" and the "Nifty" Archives, and then I never heard from him again.
I really dont know how I got onto this site from there, it just sorta happened, but this was the first "gay" orientated website that I ever settled into to and felt at ease with. I then found sites such as Ghouldrool, and Bliss and I am a regular at some of them aswell.
I guess, I was lonely and scared thinking I was some sort of sicko pedafile, but sites like this have made me feel a lot better.
I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank tim for putting this site up, because it was the begining of me discovering myself properly.
I am forever grateful, you are a good man Tim

Well, this is only my second time to post anything, but thought that others should know why i'm here. Tim you already know, but i'll put it here for others. I've been surfing the net since it got started, (bbs's before the www too), i've read about everything that the title caught my eye. I've downloaded Chris and Nigel a long time ago, but never read it until recently. It just overwhelmed me, changed me, and well, got me where i am today. I joined tim's email thing, and signed his guest book, and he replied. I was shocked, never expected a reply, and well, now I've let him in my life as a friend. Tim youv'e helped me so much. I've been very distant towards others (afraid of getting hurt again). People have called me a great friend, a nice guy, etc., but i couldn't risk letting anyone get close until now. Tim you introduced me to a couple of great guys close to my home, and i hope we've become friends, i concider them my friends.
So why am i here, because "my friend" Tim runs the place, thats why.

I plead temporary insanity...
Only joking, of course! I have no-idea how I ever found this place, but I'm glad I did, because it is fucking great.
My little brother is off to Belgium tomorrow for 5 days, it is going to be stange (and yet distinctly quiet) without him.
All quiet on the Pip-front (as ever).
Babington TwentyFour was excellent. Had a lovely time.
Just drove back from Oxford today, and took me ages, bloody traffic was a nightmare. I left here at 2.45 and got back at 8.45. NOT fun.
Football tomorrow morning, we WILL win (positive thinking).
Sorry I haven't chatted much on the board for a while, I do check it every night though.
Dan.

Found the site through a story on Nifty and been coming back ever since. Printed out a lot of your info on diseases and such and use that with my kids.
This is the one board I have stayed with for the same reasons David gave. This is truly a Place of Safety. I have recommended this site and MB to just about everyone who has had questions about sexuality, diseases, and such, or was just looking for a neat place to hang out.
Thanks, Tim!
Hugs, Charlie

I began reading Chris and Nigel on Nifty about the time Tim startied posting it there. I've also read some of his other stories. But it wasn't until a couple of months ago that I ventured onto the site. I read some of the messages and began posting almost the same day I found the board. This place just seemed to have a really neat sense of community and I wanted to become a part of it. I very glad that I did and that I was accepted here. Everyone is so helpful. Before coming here there had only been one person that I could show my writing. Now I feel like I can share it with the world, though still anonimously. Thanks Tim and everyone.
Think good thoughts,
e

We all went to Gay Day at the park and had a great time watching cute guys, eating crunchy greasy food, watching very cute guys, shopping, watching extreemily cute guys, catching a show, watching exceptionaly cute guys, more shopping, and did I mention there were alot of really really cute guys..... LOL
Well there were.........
And we all had a wonderful day..... YYYYAAAAYYYY
Marc & Kevy and our new friend.....
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

The free drinks did it for me also!....
My life is rather hectic at the moment. Not really sure what to do. Pip has recently beeen in contact "hurrah!", but he seems to have found a "non-girlfriend", a girl that he likes to pull. Which is annoying, because I must have taken the whole "I never want a girlfriend ever again" thing much too seriously...!
Not to worry, I am going to my friend's party on the 6th, and there is going to be a Prince there, who is my age! WOOO HOOOOOOO! I do hope he is fit! He is german, which is cool, because I love german guys!
See you, and hope everyone is well!.
Dan.
