I am now enjoying my last few days of freedom befor entering boot camp. This of course means going out a lot, parties, coming home late and not sleeping
Last night/this morning I came home vvery late/early and decided to go up to sit on the roof and watch the sunrise. I was just sitting there half asleep, thinking of many things yet nothing at all, when I had one of those moments. When there is a quiet spell, time just stops, you raise your head and you just know that everything will be alright. You know that whatever comes your way, whatever choice you will have to make - you will overcome, you will make the right choice, in short life will be fine.
These are the moments to treasure, the memories to keep for harder times, the times that make everything else bearable!!!
Just thought I'd share this with you
Be yourselves, Gil

With good fortune, with luck, with care, with attention to detail, with blind obedience, this will pass.
You may even, with discretion, find the love of your life.
You will enjoy parts and hate parts. It will neother make a man of you nor destroy you despite having power over you.
May your God go with you each day.

gil,
i served my country for 6 years in the USMC and for all the good and BAD times i had i would not trade one second of that time for anything. while sitting in a bunker in the city of beruit (sp) and being shelled it was times like the one that you described that kept me from going totally nuts. not matter what happenes or how rough it gets they (those with rank over you ) can never get in to your head and take away your thoughts dreams and memories. a little joke we had while i served was when things seemed like you were at the very lowest time and ' they ' had taken every thing presious away from you you can say to your self over and over in your head.....they cant take my birthday away. its not the birthday that hold any value it the fact that your birthday...the second you were born ....is your's and your's alone no one can do anything to change that EVER.
just some thoughts for you
peace

Thank you for sharing your moment. I know everything
will go well for you. Take care and report in here
to let us know how everything is going.
Your words will help me through another school year
where I cannot be myself; where I must be the person
people want me to be. I so hope that, as you say,
everything will be all right and life will, one day,
be fine.
You closed with 'Be Yourselves'. I hope to be.
Thank You~

God will be with you.
I can offer you the same advice that I was given too many years ago when in the same situation: Stand in the back row of everything and volunteer for nothing. Stood me in good stead, anyway.
Please, please stay in touch: email, ICQ, this MB...

I will be around for the next two days and then I'm off to one month of boot camp before they'll release me to return to my studies. I ask you all not to worry since probably the most dangerous thing I'll have to face is the militery food . If I survive "that" (for lack of better definition) I'll check back here in two weeks.
Ok to be honest I'm a bit scared... The uniform is a terrible shade of green and I just can't wear green

Ouch, sorry to hear you have to wear green, man!
Anyway, many guys like the military look, bet you could get picked up real easy in a uniform!
(Sorry, bad joke, heh heh!)
Hope to hear from you soon (ie: in two weeks then).
And do take care, alright? Like you've already been told, don't volunteer for ANYTHING, and just be you. Please?

Well it will be a new event in your life, remember this, THIS TO WILL PASS, you will hate it if you think it goes on for ever which is what it feels like. DON"T volenteer for anything!!! If thay ask if anyone can type what they want is someone to moe the grass, can you drive a truck, they want you to pull an overnite guard duty. Get the idea??? Work hard as the DI's will notice who is trying and who is skateing along. Study the classes as it helps to be in the top of the class and it's in the records for ever and future Sgt. and officers will see it. The schools they send you to will be the best chance to advance in grade quickly AND to be offered a higher/better school. Good luck! Which brance will you go into? Mr.G
