this is how we are doing. http://www.entropia.com/my_Team_Stats.asp?ID=6506 will show you.

What I don't understand is that we have shedloads of members who are just signed in, but not running. Ah well. Every little helps.

Do devote some spare cpu cycles to this project. It has to be worthwhile. You can join at http://www.entropia.com/join.asp#faah No big deal if you join "our" team or not, but it's a bit of fun if you do.

OK. I've read the thingy about this "posted" here on your site, and at the pharmatceutical company as well.

Now how is this working? Do I need a 24/7 connection; should this be xDSL, or will dial-up be acceptable?

I ask these things as my Web-server is 24/7 and T1, but co-located at a public utility; whereas my Home-Business connection "could" be 24/7, but through preference is only on when I'm on, or one of my sons is, and not at any other time; this latter circumstance is only dial-up, but I could invest in xDSL although I've not done so as neither of my sons has expressed much interest in streaming "anything" and as a consequence I've never seen much need for more than we presntly use.

Guidance appreciated.

Incidental to all this my Web-server provides dial-up and e-Mail services to some one hundred widely dispersed members of my extended family (Ellithorpe) on three continents and 15 countries.

Dial up works great. That's what I use because they don't have DSL service available where I live. In fact the best connection I can manage is 28.8 even though I have a 56K modem. Too much noise in the phone line. My ISP won't kick nme off so I can be online 24/7 provided the service isn't interrupted. I haven't noticed any problems running the program either. It works quietly in the background and I check on it once in a while just to see if it's doing anything.

Think good thoughts,
