Just a small reminder, the "Gone From Daylight" competition is in its voting phase over at Comicality's Library, and the timer's definitely ticking, voting closes in just a few days I believe so you better get crackin'...

I wouldn't have made this post if it wasn't for the fact that one of our numbers has an entry in that competition. So don't forget, okay?

OOPS! Smile

Voting page here: http://vote.sparklit.com/web_poll.spark/161242

Of course, reading the stories would be helpful first, or at least one of them. Wink They're here: http://www.voy.com/17262/

Some of them might have been knocked down to one of the back pages though. Maybe they've been compiled all in one place, but I don't know if, or if so, where.

One has 2 votes, and one is able to vote daily! It is thus not a fair ballot.

I have been voting and spreading my many votes in a random manner, but I feel the ballot is irrelevant. smith and I talked about it. He can and will speak for himself, but I think he feels that the fun was in writing his tale, not in any sort of ballot for it.

I can tell you that I adore the restrained writing style of his story. If it were not related to a different site and theme I would host it here. If he ever makes it somehow stand-alone I will host it with no hesitation

Tim

Are you perchance referring to the "Vampire" story - forgive me smith for not remembering its' name - because should you be, I too things it's absolutely marvellous.

I've spotted other writings of his, here and there, and they're all good, some very good, and one or two, such as the one I mention above exceptional.

I loved writing my addition to The Gone From
Daylight Chronicles. I'd love anyone that wants
to read it to do just that. But, don't worry
about the voting.......I wrote it for the love
of the story and out of respect for its author.
I didn't even vote Smile

I didn't even know I was supposed to vote. I don't visit that site much, though I did follow a link someone posted here to smith's story. I thought it was great, smith. You did a wonderful job. I knew that was part of a larger story than what I had read, but I did not have a problem understanding it at all. Great bit of writing.

Think good thoughts,
e

http://www.ghouldrool.com/comicality is the site of "Comicality"'s stories, including the "original" Gone From Daylight vampire serial. I haven't look for awhile, Com's own latest chapters may not yet be on his web site, but rather in the "Library" message board where the contest is also taking place. There are links to the library from the web site I listed above.

If you haven't read the original GFD, the contest for additional chapters from the fans will probably be less enjoyable. Warren sounded like he might be referring to Com, not smith. ?

Somewhere on this board, I think Tim chronicled his visit to the states where he briefly met Com.

The original tale is by Comicality. In part a fantasy "romp" and in part a written tribut eto his frineds, since almost everyone he knew when he started to write is in the take, explicitly and by name in many cases.

He created a contest to write a chapter, and several existing and new writers put finger to light socket (damn, keyboard, what WAS I thinking?), and wrote. Some wrote blood and guts, some wrote sex. Some wrote sex and blood and guts. And some wrote emotion, with or without any of the above.

And to embarrass the crap out of smith, I love his "Epiphany", which, if he is not careful, I will link to here, from the special site where a friend of his placed it.

Met him, hugged him, went to eat with him, went to a gay bar. Awesome time.

Our very own smith has taken part in a competition to author one of the forthcoming chapters in a long-runnung saga that has been featured on number of sites. The link to his story-chapter is furnished in one of the messages above, as is the link for voting, which is being hosted by another Message Board. Through links at that site (you'll probably have to dig for them) you'll be able to read all of those taking part in the competition.

When you're reading smith's contribution - it'd titled "Epiphany", by the way - that you understand that he was probably only just having turned age-15 when he wrote it, and believe me when I tell you, you'll not believe me. It an incredibly masterful, and insightful written manuscript, with all the classis hallmarks of a seasoned author many years his elder.

Truly remarkable it is!

Warren C. E. Austin
