Now I thought, when I got a second gay Page Award, "Let;s look at other aaward schemes", and I saw the "Rins Award" on the Gay Writers' Guild site. I looked at the criteria, and I applied for it.
Now you can accuse me of smugness. Pride, too. And also "needing" recognition. I admit all of these at times.
But look at the correspondence I got into!
Now MY judgement is flawed. So I'll leave it to you guys! The correspondence is one level down

The correspondence begins:
OK, taking these in order:
>From: "Rin Rinsone"
>To: "Only me from Across the Sea"
>Subject: Re: Award Submission - Form

>Thank you for your interest. Your site cannot be reviewed for this award
>for the following reasons:

No, it does not

NO, it does not
>-Your site contains both a ListServe link and a message board but does not
>post a privacy policy or a COPPA policy.
Oh give me a break. Where in your criteria does it say that EITHER of those are required?
>-Your site posts work created by someone other than you without citing the
>authors directly. Stating that something is written by someone else does
>not make it OK to use on your site. You must have written permission from
>the actual owner of the work you are posting.
Show me where it does that? Unless oyu mean a poem out of copyright by a long dead author
>-Your site lacks a sophisticated navigational system.
Bullshit
>-The site does not proffer a central theme.
Bullshit. Total umnmitigated bullshit.
>
>Should you wish to redesign your work in order to meet the criteria for
>Rin's Award, you may resubmit your site, and it will be reevaluated
Redesign my work? Give me a break. You aren't at all pompous, are you?

"Fuck you. And the horse you rode in on."
But, of course, I am too polite to say it.
Instead I have posted his awards on my site with a "Proud to have been rejected for these awards" message.

Just let me say I feel that you are totally wrong and that I could post a more colorful answer here but will refrain.
I know I am probably making an enemy right now but I do have a tendency to say what I feel. Rin spent a lot of time working with me and teaching me the legalities of US law. Which brought the GWG inline with those laws. I admire Rin and what she is trying to accomplish with her award. I am proud to have her award on both the GWG and my personal web site. Part of your problem Tim may be that you are not in the US and therefore feel that you don’t have to follow her guidelines. You always seem to push the envelope of what is acceptable on internet websites and seem to be getting shut down continually. Maybe you should take heed to what Rin is asking you to do.

When I receive a "form letter" of rejjection, my hackles rise.
When I receive a totally incorrect critique, my hackles rise.
When I see arrogance, my hackles rise.
I admit to finding this quote of yours unacceptable, however: Part of your problem Tim may be that you are not in the US and therefore feel that you don’t have to follow her guidelines.
I am sorry, but I don't see the need to follow HER guidelines, no. And if it is the "privacy policy" element, then I am an acknowledged worldwide expert and authority in data privacy in my business life.
You always seem to push the envelope of what is acceptable on internet websites and seem to be getting shut down continually.
Not relevant. And more than a little snide. Frankly if I push the envelope it is not your concern. And, looking at my site right now, the envelope is not being pushed.
Now, if you want the histroy of my website's ups and downs:
- Started on geocities with a text only site and a couple of stories. Lasted 8 weeks before being trashed by a gay-bot.
- Moved to Xoom and was there until Teenboyauthors came into being
- While at Xoom put the site on gay.sexhound.net - but lost patience with the awful banners and reputation
- Moved to teenboyauthors. last 8 months before something very strange happened and ALL TBA sites were shut by the webmaster. Odd that TBA was hostedon Badpuppy amd we were starting to take THEIR trade as free sites.
- Moved back to Xoom, and watched Xoom be taken over by NBCI. Is it not ODD how my site was trashed AFETR I removed the pictures of naked boys? Yes, AFTER. And isn;t it odd how the RESOURCES section was trashed and not the stories.
- Now at Tripod. Awaiting the routine trashing of the site by THEIR gay-bot. But it is already mirrored elsewhere anyway.
Now, of course, by pushing the envelope, I have a section on the site for resources for health and welfare. A messageboard to allow people to ask for advice. (A major sin according to Rin coz there is no privacy policy). A Listbot server to allow people to receive emails. Another "Rin Sin". My navigation is as clear as anything. I refuse to use frames. My topics are clear. And I value her award and advice not one whit.
