Well, I finally have returned from vacation. It was loads of fun an quite informative. My wife and I went to Williamsburg, VA and we were joined by my mother. Of course visited the Colonial Williamsburg restored village. It was quite interesting and the history was fascinating. I actually learned things I didn't already know or had forgotten. We were trained to load and fire a musket, watched as ghosts told their stories, attended a harpsichord concert, toured the governor's palace, and sat on the jury during a witch trial. Then we went to Maryland to visit my daughter and granddaughter. There were lots of guys to check out too. I know, it's not nearly as exciting as Lenny's vacation, but it was fun. I'm nowhere near ready to go to work in the morning.

Colonial Williamsburg, and it's environs, is an especially nice vacation spot. I've been a number of times, it being quite handy to where my elder son resides (maintaining a suite of rooms for my grossly infrequent visits) in Charlotte N.C., as are a number of other great area venues, some being historical, although not all.

I whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone journeying to the mid-atlantic seaboard, particularily in the very late summer or early autumn, as you had chosen.

As you might imagine, there were all shapes, sizes, and ages of boys. Perhaps the best one was on the plane on the way home. Give or take a couple of years, I figure he was about 20, just under six feet, and maybe 150 lbs. Brown hair, brown eyes, moderately hairy legs below the knee, and really nice feet (he was wearing knee length shorts and sandals). We both had isle seats with his being one row in front of mine and across the isle. This allowed for perfect viewing without being noticed. He was travelling by himself and when boarding the plane, he found a seat next to a really cute girl (mid-teens at most) and her mother. He read for a time, then sat with his hands folded across his lap. His hands were never quite still and his gaze was almost always towards the girl. There were times when he would move his hands away from his lap and it was then that I could see why he kept them there. He seemed quite uncomfortable and the source of his discomfort was plainly obvious. I couldn't tell if the girl ever noticed, but I was highly entertained with dreams of helping to relieve his problem. When we changed planes, he followed me into the restroom (just coincidence, he wasn't really following me). I stopped at a urinal while he went into a stall. I spent nearly 30 minutes watching the door before he re-appeared. I wonder what could have taken him so long. hehehe.

The only other real boy-watching highlight was of boys who were obviously too young for anything but watching. We were in line outside the Capital Building waiting to be let in for the witch trial. Just ahead of us in the line was a group of students. I figured sixth or seventh grade, but I overheard a teacher telling someone it was eighth grade. Of the ten or so boys in the group, about half were true definitions of the word eye candy. It was fun to watch them as they tried to impress the girls in the group (pushing and shoving, playfully hitting each other, and hurling the occasional insult). It was equally as fun watching as the girls teased them. If only I had been an eighth grader.

There were plenty of others, but I only got looks as we passed on the street, or sat in a restaurant, or rode on a tour bus, etc.

Think good thoughts,
e
