All but one of my candidates won by substantial margins. Coleen Levitt, who spent 12,000.00 on her campaign (compaired to half a million by her opponent) lost by a very slim margin.
Privately, Coleen told me that if I were straight, she would be all over me. We both knew she was kidding because she loves her husband way to much. I think we joke like that because for a long time, people in the different campaign headquarters thought I had "a thing" for her. I am sure it was because they saw my total admiration for her and figured I just had to have the hots for her.
Publicly, the thanked her campaign manager, and me for all the work we did. I will work on any campaign when she is on the ticket.
Dave Woodward won a landslide victory in spite of the race baiting and homophobia campaign waged by his opponent Josh West. I will support any campaign against Josh, even if he runs foor dog catcher. He is one of the most hateful and divisive people I have seen in politics in a long time. Dave on the otherhand, in his speech, said that this proves that at least in this local area, hate and intolerance have no place in Goverment.
Jennifer Granholm won another landslide victory, and will be the first female Governor in the satate of Michigan. Baby steps.
Still, I could not be more pleased about these wins.
However, the republicanparty, known to oppose including sexual orientation in any supportive laws, calling them "special rights", won across this country. This makes me very sad, because now there is nothing keeping us from waging war across the world. That really sucks. I don't want my country killing for cheap oil. So my work on these issues continues .....
But I am so proud to be a part of a team that is making my little corner of this rock we call the earth, a better place to be. ..... Baby steps .....
Thanks everyone for you kind wishes and support,
All my love, to all of you
Kevin

PS. I'll reply to your latest mail as soon as I get the chance. I'm trying to convince myself that I'm actually studying as much as I ought to... (Don't worry Lenny, I know what I'm doing...)

Aren't they doing an important job here in our society?
Anyway, I am truly happy to see an almost-across-the-board success for you and your team Kevin! Muchos Swedish love and smooches for you my friend, I am so proud of you!
But you stay away from that Coleen woman and her feminine woes, you hear? I will not accept any competition from her!
Josh is such a cute name, to see it dragged down to such pitiful lows by a hate/smear campaign is just pathetic. Good to know you kicked the sucker's ass!
Worried now to see exactly how far to the right the US will go now that the Elephant party has a firm grip on the reins of the federal government. I fear they will go on a wild romp across the globe crapping wherever they damn well please, and in great, copious amounts too. "Defense" spending seems to be rocketing towards the stratosphere already, and the warmongers seemingly haven't abandoned ideas to go to war against Iraq... I suppose they have already made moves to make sure their own sons will not be the ones at the front-line.
Ah, such is the world of politics I suppose. Keep an eye open for us will you, please?
Hugs and everything associated of course!

That's the way it always is, Lenny. Those who start wars never actually fight them; they expect the children of the people to to fight them for them, making it an appeal to patriotism. Vietnam was a perfect example of that. The wealthy and well-heeled (and that, of course, included members of Congress) were able to use their power and influence to keep their sons out of Vietnam; and then looked on in pride when those sons made themselves out to be such great war heroes when they ran for office. A perfect example of that was Vice President J. Danforth Quayle (remember him?).
Remember how when we were kids, our parents always told us we should fight our own battles (at least, that's what my parents always said to me)? Well, as I think I said here before, those who start wars should be the ones to fight them. In this case, George Bush and Sadaam Hussein should be put in a boxing ring and allowed to duke it out. Or better yet, how about a tag-team wrestling match (2 out of 3 falls!) with George Bush and Tony Blair on one side, Sadaam and the partner of his choice on the other? Either way, Millions of innocent lives could potentially be saved.
I am not being facetious.
