My notes are in place. A friend is accompanying me. ALL my colleagues are horrified over this. I am as close to breaking down as I have ever been.

I will tell you all the result as soon as I am able after knowing it. If dismissed I will have to get home first. And that will be hard to do, too.

In advance "THANK YOU"

I am praying that the outcome will enable him to leave his present place of employment with dignity and at a time of his choosing. I know that this is what timmy wants most of all.

I was expecting a verdict NOW. BUT I am to wait a further two and a half hours to hear it. I have JUST been told this. it is "in order to come to the correct decision"

With all the crossed fingers, warm thoughts, and prayers. And your winning personality of course.

But, they probably felt they needed to make an example of this and let you know they are serious and all that posturing "stuff." Okay, I'll stop speculating now and wait for your update - off to work myself now.

I have been given a "final written warning" which NEVER expires and is in my personnel file for ever. This means that ANY transgression, however minor, is likely to be used to fire me.

I worked VERY hard to get it reduced this level. I think, apart from my handling the incident totally professionally, the fact that I declared my treatment for depression, plus my cousin's transvestism, plus the indecent length of time they took swung it in my favour.

Note, though, that my position is very weak indeed.

I have the option to appeal, which I will. The appeal can confirm the sentence, or lower it, but not increase it, so is a "cannot lose" option.

It is not "making an example of me" because the procedings are 100% confidential, and I may NOT speak about the outcome to anyone.Note that I have been banned from doing so, and thus if i do, then I break the terms of the sentence, and am in breach of the final warning. If they knew WHo I was here this would doubtless be considered to be a breach.

Now, some of you will be disappointed that I will NOT be posting while at work, nor chatting while at work, and that i will limit email stuff, too. What you have to understand is that I was charged with "Improper use of IT equipment" (among other things). For at least the foreseeable future I am a good corporate citizen, using the equipment for corporate things. So my apologies.

This whole thing is so blown out of all proportion that i am amazed.

I have LEFT the professional discussion group with my employer's id. I will consider rejoining as a private citizen under my own email address at some point. I will do so as myself, not representing my employer at all.

The bigot won. The bully won. I have lost.

Hi Timmy,

Seams sort of serious. It is ashame that that idiot got away with saying what he did. Regardless, you also need to look out for yourself. I would reconsider appealing if it took some convincing (on your part) to get what you got. I am not privy to the details of the process, buy you may not want to remind them of the whole mess. It might be something that you just want to get behind you and concentrate on showing them how important you are (i.e. work hard).

Anyway, just a thought....

Darren

Timmy, I said this to you yesterday: no matter what happens/happened with this hearing, you still come out knowing that a hundred or so people have an INCREDIBLE amount of respect for you. You stood up for yourself, and essentially all of us here, by standing up for your beliefs in the face of adversity.

You've touched so many lives, and you probably don't know the extent of that number. You have affected so many people and made so many lives better by just hosting your site and this messageboard.

I am proud to know you, Timmy. And I know I am not the only one.

Keep fighting.

...all evening what would happen. I am happy that it went well, relatively speaking. That permanent record thing sounds like a horrible damocles sword to hold over someone's head like that for all time. Sad

Glad it wasn't a total loss.

Hugs, timmy!

I am sorry, but I don't know the problem you are in, but, dear friend, whatever it is I will be praying for you. I am not good at many or most things, but praying has always been my forte, I thank God for that.
