This may seem a bit redundant but I felt the need to reiterate the main thing said (that is use a condom)and to add some info from someone who actualy is dealing with a major STD.
As most of you already know, or I hope you do, that most STD's for those of us in the western world are suvivable, the catch is that you in some cases will be tethered to what those of us in this position lovingly call our Meds. Now this is all fine and dandy and avails most with a normal life span but for some these wonder drugs are brutal and have very unplesant side effects! Just a few are; upset stomach, diarrhea, hyper tension, Diabetes and other cool things like wasting or redistribution of body fat, depending on the med. you might get what we call a buffalo hump. Yup just what it sounds like a hump of fat at the top of your shoulders. Oh yeah and there is always neuropathy, this can be anything from tingling in your fingers and toes to excruciating debilitating pain.
Ok so some of these thing can be controled with yet more man made toxins they call Meds. but that's a catch 22 also as they don't really know the long term effects of most of these drugs.
Now at the risk of being seen as pedantic I must address one more thing.
I would like to know how many of you are awear of Hepititis type C! This to me is the really scarry one. At this point to my knowledge those who have it for the most part are not able to be treated and are liveing shortened lives. I only knew one person ( My research Nurse in the drug trial I was on) who was treatable and that with Interlukin 2! She was not looking forward to it but felt her self lucky that she was one who had a strain that could be treated even though the treatment knocks you on your butt and at that point not known to be totaly effective.
Again, all I am saying is use condums and if you have had unsafe sex in the last 25 years get tested for all STD's.
At this point I am really worried for the young ppl in the US because under the curent admistration those organizations that receives Gov. funding can only teach abstinence (Yeah right we all know that works)They are not allowed to even mention condums much less give them out free as they once did. So it's up to us even the indestructible ones like Ashley, smith, Tom and Drew, and thanks always for Timmy's vigilance to spred the word.
This is not Gods judgment of peoples sexual promiscuity it's a test of the Love brodcast system, Love yourself and all those around you.

I don't think we can hear it too much, especially the youngins. I was quite displeased with that they are (aren't!) teaching in elementary school these days.

My friend, I think I know some of the guts it took to post that. It is not easy to admit any difference, and a difficult difference like HIV is one that takes ocurage.
Hep A & B are vaccinatable against. I have half a feeling that France has some sort of vaccine against a particular Hep C strain, but there are, I am told, many strains of Hep C.
As with all vicious diseases, PREVENT. The "cure" is sometimes as bad as the ailment otherwise.
I have a huge set of info on STDs on the site. Look at http://iomfats.org/resources/sti.htm and become aware. Those of you who have just come out, use this to let your parents know that you are aware.
Get vaccinated against Hep A & B, both of which are more infective than HIV, and protect yourselves at all times witg a new sexual partner until you and they have been together long enough to get tested at the same time and until you are each certain that the relationship is monogamous.
In the UK we hand out free condoms, no questions asked, at Sexual health Clinics (which are anonymous and free), and free lube, free vaccinations, free health check, free advice, the lot. Hi there Rich, I am glad that you have come along and posted your concern for people everywhere and expecially having HIV like Tim Said.
I hear what you are saying and for me there is no apathy regarding the use of condoms. I have had quite a few tests for STD's cause of what happened to me when I was younger. I also dont think of myself as indestructable, I KNOW I am not.
Merry Christmas for you and My prayers tonight will include you and the many around the globe afflicted with this Illness.
