There's an article in today's Guardian, "Children's book features gay boy", about a new mainstream novel aimed at teenagers (Paul Magrs, "Strange Boy") which includes a 10-year-old boy's gay experiences though not in graphic detail or as a dominant theme. I've not seen it, but thought you might be interested.
