In one of the previous message threads someone commented that although the subject matter was not particularly to everyones taste it did indeed provoke a degree of discussion.

Along these lines I am caused to ask just what brings a person to respond to a comment and also what impells him/her to not?

Also what impetus precipitated each of you to cross the line from lurker to participant?

I for one lurked for almost a year before sumoning the courage to reach out and when I finally did it was like a curtain being drawn away, letting in a brighter light than I was very used to.

But, those first few words seemed to be the hardest. True I knew and understood the annonimity of the internet, and I also knew that some of the people I jurked over might not be who they seemed to be, and conversly, they had no way to know me.

But none the less it was a very traumatic experience for me, a life changing experience.

Your thoughts are welcome.
