Some time ago I posted information on this MB about the first ever Pride Parade in Jerusalem (which was a great success). This parade was brought into existence by the sheer willpower and determination of a young guy, 26 years old, who is the director of the Jerusalem Open House for the GLBT community of the Holy City. His name is Haggai El'ad.
For several weeks now Haggai has been in hospital, paralyzed from the neck down with a virus and only breathing with mechanical assistance. The doctors have no prognosis because they have no real diagnosis. This is a known (rare) virus, but that is all they know.
Haggai is a brilliant guy (with a doctorate in astrophysics) and is completely secular in his beliefs and lifestyle. He cannot speak and has to communicate by people pointing to rows and letters on a board. Yesterday a colleague of mine visited him and he spelled out the word 'prayer'.
I intend to visit him soon and I would like to be able to tell him that many people from all over the world are praying for his recovery - each one in his own way.
This news has completely devastated me.
