It seems that someone is forging my email address as the "reply to" address in email they are sending out with an attachment containing a virus. I found out when an email was "returned" to me as undeliverable. I never sent it to begin with. I inquired with MSN and this is what they told me:
"I have researched your account and found that it appears you are the only person logging into it. For security, we would suggest changing your password and Secret Question/Answer at this time. A good rule of thumb is to change your passwords regularly.
Someone has forged, your e-mail address as the 'reply-to' or "from" field on a piece of unsolicited e-mail. This does not require the person to log into the account. Most likely, it was either a typographical error on the sender's part." "
I doubt that it was a typographical error. Most likely it was intentionally done. If any of you receive any email with attachment from me, look at the full header to make certain it was actually from me. The returned one that I received originated at the following address: Sherbears3268@aol.com.
Needless to say I am quite annoyed at this. It's one thing to send a virus to me and try to attack me computer, but sending out a virus trying to make it look like it was me is gutless and cowardly.
Oh well, just be careful.
Think good thoughts,
e
