I expect that most of us here receive spam from time to time and do our best to filter it or block it, or if it gets through then just delete it.

Today, however, I received a series of messages that were unusual in two respects. First, the subject header was extremely offensive and second the text of the message contained "removal" instructions not to respond by e-mail, but to ring a particular telephone number or write to a specific address.

It is my guess that the telephone number and address given belong not to the spammer, but to a victim whom the spammer is hoping will be inundated with phone calls from aggrieved people and hate mail.

The e-mails originate from addresses with forged headers and I have forwarded them to Spam Cop.

Is there any other action I can take or should I just forget about it? This is extremely distateful.
