All but one of my candidates won by substantial margins. Coleen Levitt, who spent 12,000.00 on her campaign (compaired to half a million by her opponent) lost by a very slim margin.
Privately, Coleen told me that if I were straight, she would be all over me. We both knew she was kidding because she loves her husband way to much. I think we joke like that because for a long time, people in the different campaign headquarters thought I had "a thing" for her. I am sure it was because they saw my total admiration for her and figured I just had to have the hots for her.
Publicly, the thanked her campaign manager, and me for all the work we did. I will work on any campaign when she is on the ticket.
Dave Woodward won a landslide victory in spite of the race baiting and homophobia campaign waged by his opponent Josh West. I will support any campaign against Josh, even if he runs foor dog catcher. He is one of the most hateful and divisive people I have seen in politics in a long time. Dave on the otherhand, in his speech, said that this proves that at least in this local area, hate and intolerance have no place in Goverment.
Jennifer Granholm won another landslide victory, and will be the first female Governor in the satate of Michigan. Baby steps.
Still, I could not be more pleased about these wins.
However, the republicanparty, known to oppose including sexual orientation in any supportive laws, calling them "special rights", won across this country. This makes me very sad, because now there is nothing keeping us from waging war across the world. That really sucks. I don't want my country killing for cheap oil. So my work on these issues continues .....
But I am so proud to be a part of a team that is making my little corner of this rock we call the earth, a better place to be. ..... Baby steps .....
