Most of you know me......I'm smith, JJ, Jams, James J.....I go by alot of names. I go by smith too for a few people. When I am smith, I get e-mails from kids my age who want a place to talk and ask questions. I always point them here, saying that the people that come to the MB will be friendly and kind and help if they can. So many times these boys are trying to figure out who they are and why they feel like they do.....just like me. I hope they are all reading this and I hope that they can get the answers they need or even post sometime to let us know they are out there. Before my first post, I read and wanted so badly to talk. Now, you probably wish I would shut up occasionally Smile

All you grownups, think back to when you were 16 and no one listened to you........you had so many questions and no answers. These kids need to talk to you in this place of safety.

I came here because I was so lonely inside, I wanted to just be gone....disappear. Ya'll have changed that, with your kindness and acceptance that I didn't even know existed. This is just me thanking you and hoping that the encouragement and care that you always show will continue for all the kids out there that have contacted me and are reading what you write right now.

An e-mail caused me to write this and now I'm all smiley Smile that I did. This isn't a "hug smith" post. You already do that. This is just an encouraging hand to anyone who wants to talk. We have Tommy and Setras and Andy and there are more kids out there than you know.

I know you posted this for me, coz we've been emailing a bit. I'm not sure about me. What I am. And you said come here. So I have. Only I don't know what to say, and I don't think I like being what I think I am.

Anyway here I am. I only came coz you emailed me to tell me about the message and said to look for it now.

I love the story, smith. It's...... me.

I'm so pleased you have stepped forward as you have done because smith has asked it of you; moreover, I'm overwhelmed that you have placed such faith, and trust, in all of us here at A Place of Safety.

Again, welcome, may this be simply be the first day of the rest of your life.

With best wishes

I remain

You'll find this a friendly place with some great people who are very supportive.

You are not alone. In fact many of us (including some of the older ones like me!) are trying to figure out in one way or another who they really are.

So do stick around. Contribute when you feel comfortable doing so, or just read the posts. There's a lot of helpful stuff on here.

Just be careful if you come across one of smith's jokes.

... from the impact of the one he *posted*, it must be 8- or 9-months ago, about the U.S. "Navy" and their encounter with a Canadian "Lighthouse", which in truth prompted my very first message here at A Place of Safeyy, after my having been lurking in the shadows for several months.

Nor Paul, am I ashamed to admit that like you, smith®, it would be safe for me to say, is very much responsible for my being here at all, and that he, and all the other youngsters like him amongst the community here we all call a home, are largely responsible for my having remained in the interval.

smith®, here's a tip of this old fogies' hat to you, and to you Ashley, and you too TomS, and to you Dan, to you AndySomething (one of our most recent newcomers), and to you Drew (whereever you may be), and oh so many more I can't always keep track of your comings and goings.

Notice that we've both hit same thread, at one and the same time; albeit for quite different reasons of course.

First off all, I would like to welcome you, Paul. I know that it may seam like you came at a bad time as there is a bit of bickering going on, but this subject brings out some strong emotions. We are normally much more civilized.

I know that posting can seam very scary at first, but if you got some deep problems on you mind, this is a cool place to possibly remove some of that weight that may be resting on your shoulders.

As for you smith, I read your 'Just hit send story' and think it is superb. I know that I have been a very bad boy and have not thanked you for your efforts. I guess I will do this now, THANKS!

listened to my other post to you. You have so much to share, and your other friends do to. remember, each of you have more worth than some have given you credit for.

Don't listen to them, let your voice be heard. The worls will be a better place for it. A waterfall starts with one drop, be that drop.

What I just said to Miguel is the same for you:

This is an odd place. Mostly it is peaceful. Sometimes, like when there are international tensions, things spill out that would be better kept inside. Otherwise it's fine.

The good thing here is that no-one is going to "hit on you". Or I hope they aren't. That isn't what I created it for.

Ask what you need, contribute what you can, and make friends.

It's always good to have a new member. Many of us have plenty of experience not liking what we think we are. I lived most of my life that way. I'm finally starting to accept it and that has meant a change for the better.

Think good thoughts,

Hi,
I wish the Internet had been discovered when I was sixteen and confused and lonely, it would have changed a lot of things. However, even at my great age of 48 I am soooo grateful for it, I can now reach out...and be reached. Why do most people think the Internet is a threat? Especially to young people? Quite the contrary, it is probably literally a lot of people's only lifeline.

Keep on going smith and keep on writing. You make a difference.
