Someone has bought the .com version of my domain to redirect to gay porn sites. Just goes to show that we must be doing something right for people to try to steal traffic.

Personally I think he is a total loser. The "whois" record shows:

Now, it strikes me that these people might HATE to receive emails about what they have done.

Which makes it totaly ligitimate for a person to purchase the rights to it. At least on a legal and moral footing.

How can this possibly affect you?

And this is a serious question as we reciently tried to secure gwg.org for the GWG.... and it was held up for sale at an ungodly price.

Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

I have no intention of buying all the surround names. It does not AFFECT ME, but I dislike being targetted in that manner. So I am making a civil protest. Which is my right.

After all he woudl not have bought it unless he had cause. And the cause is that the site is high traffic and well placed in search engines.

There is no way around this.

So I am content to fill his email box as a protest.

I fat-fingered the .COM as I don't keep links to "controversial" sites on even "my" computers with my younguns. Ironically, this "precaution" bit me as I mistyped from my coffee-table laptop while the kids sat behind me on the couch. They didn't seem to notice! Sounds like a story some of the young'uns here might have with the roles reversed or something, eh?

Anyway, if you care and need to, e-mail me and I tell you a quick and dirty workaround to prevent THAT site from ever coming up if you do mistype it. Granted, an unusual circumstance!
I see..... But another honest question.....  [message #9983 is a reply to message #9963] Tue, 29 April 2003 10:26 Go to previous messageGo to next message

He uses people's regard (or otherwise) of my site for HIS marketing purposes. He probably wants me to buy the domain off him. he gets traffic from those who recall my doamin incorrectly. And because his is a massive porn site my reputation "suffers"
