Nice to know people are still here...I am kind of "deaf" without any IM capacity yet. So unless there are messages posted on the MB or unless I get emails (hint, hint, you know who you are...hehehe) I don't know that anybody's around...
34 days to go, and counting. I'm working on my Visa this week...lots of paperwork, but it's all good!

Not including the 5 days I will be there next week, apartment hunting and relaxing...
That means only 19 working days before I leave...
Yuppers...
Hey, friends...emails please? Sometimes I am going nuts here...itching to be away and gone, bored here, yet frantically busy about various "leaving projects"...

and banana sandwiches in Thailand? I was just watching the local news do a feature on a Thai Elvis impersonator. Apparently he's quite a hit on Sunset Strip in Hollywood. He doesn't look much like "The King" but he does sound like him. Strange? You bet. When they interviewed him he had a heavy Thai accent, but when he sang, well, one might think "The King" is still alive.
Think good thoughts,

Nope...never heard about that particular sandwich combo. I can buy Skippy here, tho. Thank God for imports!
And did you know that there are more than 20 different kinds of bananas to chose from? I kid you not!
I think I've seen that Elvis impersonator. A few years ago there was a national Elvis impersonator contest, something like 50 Thai guys tried for the title. Lots of very cool costumes, and some of them did have the sound down, but most of them didn't have very good English.
That comes from studying English with non-native English speaking teachers. Many can read and lip-synch very well, but speaking is more of a problem, as they have little contact with native English speakers for conversation.
The lip-synch thing makes for very funny listening in karaoke, tho. My favorite was a very drunk girl one night trying to sing Whitney Houston's "One Moment in Time."
She sang "Give me one Mormon at a Time" thru the whole song, and never realized what she was saying...I was crying I was laughing so hard.
(Saben, wanna come down and try your luck here? It's only a 5 hour flight from Japan...hehehe)

This is a buddy's website - the Agatha recipies are his. I helped make a batch of "Dirty Monk" driveway-plum wine last summer. Yummy but I can't really drink. The most interesting part is the site intro, however. I though he used to have pics of an actual "gold loaf" but don't see them: http://www.goldloaf.com
Peanut butter & banana - yum. When I'm lazy I'll just smear the pb right onto the banana. Dad used to do peanut butter & pickle. Blackberry jam is the best on top of a "normal" grilled cheese sandwich, I tell you.
Blackberries grow like weeds in Seattle along roadsides everywhere. There are companies here that do nothing but permanent blackberry bush removal since they're danged hard to kill.

Last night in honor of the peanut butter suggestions and memories of my long-lost youth, I had for a midnight snack what used to be my all-time favorite sandwich...
Peanut Butter...banana...Miracle Whip...and lettuce...on wheat.
Man saw me eat one of those once and I asked him what he thought. He replied, "You know why you don't want me to eat durian inside the house?? This is the same for me..."
And smith...yup, I suppose that scarred legs can be sexy...depending on who they are attached to...(wink, wink, nudge, nudge...)

And the extra added bonus...I'm going tomorrow night for 5 days...apartment hunting, bringing some stuff early.

it means that much less time until you get there permanently!
BTW, I'm back from my little soiree to Tennessee to brag, boast, and act like a proud papa at my oldest's HS graduation. All three returned to sunny (and hot) south Texas with me for the summer.
Hugs, Charlie

Only one Mormon at a time? I thought with the former Mormon practice of polygamy 12 Mormons at a time would be more appropriate *giggles*
Actually David, I went to a gay nightclub here in Osaka Saturday night, it was quite interesting, but I wasn't language confident enough to try and pick up. Some guy did try hitting on me though, but he lacked the charisma I find appealing, he was actually a little pudgey too, which for an asian is quite rare, but yes, I did talk to him and everything and he invited me to a gay sauna, but I didn't really think I was ready for that, quite yet...

Welcome back, Charlie, good to hear from you. Sounds like you'll be having a terrific summer with the kids!
In about 12 hours I get on the plane for 5 days with man in Thailand. We'll split our time between our house in the garden by the sea and hunting for a new city flat in The Big Mango (Bangkok).
It will certainly be a nice break from all the nasty politics, etc. going on as I wind down my job here.

Gosh darnit David!
You're so incredibly lucky, I can't believe how you've managed to stay away from your unbelievably hottt sexi Man for Five Whole Years! (Well not whole years, but still, hehe!)
You must be the happiest clam in the ocean!
Take care, and ENJOY yourself (like you need ME to tell you that, hehe!) *HUGS!*

Altho the counting down from here IN Thailand feels a LOT better...
smith, I'm already bouncing off the wall. Man has this list of stuff for us to decide about (like a new cable TV system, stuff like that) and I keep getting distracted by HOW he talks about it all, and lose track of what he wants my opinion about...**gigglers***
