To give a little background story about me, i can start off by saying that ever since i was about 12 years old i developed a passion for airplanes. Flying is expensive and the closes to flying i ever got was in simulator which can teach you many things about flying. In case you wondering i'm talking about flying an airplane myselft not a commercial one.
Well anyways, today i had my change. I woke up early in the morning, excited because i was going on an airplane ride. I found out about it a few months back and today i finally decided to go. Well i got to the airport about 10 o'clock am. and from the distance you could see the airplanes taking off and landing. I was so happy. In the airport we got a tour of the airplanes and learned some of the basic principles about flying. By that time all i wanted to was to get on the airplane.
After some time of waiting, my turn finally came to go and have my ride. We were going to fly in a Cessna 172 one of the most popuplar airplanes in the world. My heart was pumping as we got closer to the plane. I was not as big as i thought. Well, the pilot opened the doors and luckly i got to ride next to the pilot. It was so exciting. He showed me the control and in no time we were taxing to the ranway.
The scariest happened as we got to the active runway. He told me to take the controls because i was going to take of. Imagin, i have never flown an airplane and i was going to take off already. We got clear from the tower to take and away we went. I slowly pull the crontrols back and i was flying and airplane. The view was great, although there was a little bit of wind so it was a bumpy ride. I start turning nice and easy and we climbed to about 3,000 ft. The pilot told what to look for and then he just said that i was going to fly and he was just going to look for other aircraft. I was going to fly, i could have not asked for more.
After take off we headed to Six Flags Magic Mountain in San Dimas , California. That is in Los Angeles in case you don't know. It is a whole different view from the air. I could not believe that i was flying. The pilot just gave small instructions. Now the kids on the back seat did not know i was flying. They probably would have been scare. I was having fun but you know that everything that goes up needs to come down. I turned the airplane back to the airport. We were on final when the pilot called for permission to land and we started to decend. Yes if your thing that the pilot was going to take over you were wrong as i landed the plane. The pilot was just there to help in case something went wrong. We slowed to about 65 knots and i could see the runway in front of me. The airplane got closer and closer as i pulled the nose up to make not a perfect landing but an okay landing. Give a break it was my first time after all. We exit the runway and just as fast as it started the trip was over. It was time to go home.
I had a big smile on my face. I'm sure i will never forget this expirence. I can truely say that i had a happy day. I completed a dream, now i need to set my goals a little higher, maybe get my license i don't know.
I hope i did not bored you with this story but i just needed to share this with somebody.

He got his pilot's license when he was around 30. He loves it. he buys time in a plane at a private airport near where he lives in Maine. He says it has nothing to do with the rest of his life, and that's why he loves it...leaving everything behind waaay down below...
It's cool you got to do that! Hope you can do it again soon!

has a main character who loves to fly. For him, it's a temporary escape from life to a peaceful place. Sorry, I don't recall the title.

Thank you for the title of the book. I already did my research and found out more about the book, i'm going to start reading the book soon. This last saturday i found what i always wanted and that was to fly. You can not imagin how great that felt to able to fly, me actually controlling the airplane. Even if it was just for and hour , that experience felt like a life time. I felt free for once in my life. I felt like nobody could stop me from completing my dreams.
