Th reason florida was ceded to us was becuase we crossed a border that wasnt ours and stationed troops there then demanded to either have the land or fight for it. Fight a war we knew they couldn not win becuase the Spanish army was currently being used to defend Spain. I consider that stealing through force.
Mexico also gave us land through diffrent purchases becuase we kept picking fights with them. I believe it was Texas when we stationed men where we felt the lines should be drawn by the Rio Grande river then procedded to try and pick a fight by harressing the Mexicans.
Other areas that had once belonged to mexico had so many American squatters on the land corrupting the Mexicans that they were pushed back off of their land needing Santa Anna to relinquish its hold to the Americans.
We should not be the guardians of the world, going around and freeing the hungry and giving them their god given rights. That is not our duty to them. If the citizens want their rigths it is up to them to rise and take them. Numerous other countries ahve done it there is no reason why they should not also follow suit.
Manifest Destiny was the term used by Americans to get the other countries who held claims to Oregon Washington and California to leave. We did not own that land and had no rigth to take it from the other countries. Yet we justified it by it being our 'god given right' That is manifest Destiny.
I was asked to reply becuase I wouldnt normally have and he felt I would have soemthing to contribute so yeah I did and have.
