Sheesh...I'm sooo busy these days, I may as well be working!

I sat Man down at the keyboard and made him post his message yesterday. He really is shy about his English, and made me correct things for him. So I will also make sure that he sees your reply messages when I go back tomorrow. That might induce him to return more often!

Plus we'll download more Instant messenger programs onto Man's computer very soon. What should we download please? What do people have? MSN Messenger? AOL Messenger?

So then yesterday late morning I hopped the bus to make the 2 hour journey from our house up to Bangkok.

Looking for a new address...seeing bungalows, apartments, and townhouses. Only one I liked so far that we can even vaguely afford, pretty expensive but I may take it as it is literally next door to my new office, and in a very quiet and lovely area. Even has a gardsen for Man to work on, which may be the deciding factor. But get this...it has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms on three floors...I'll have to venture into the room-mate business and share it, which can be a downer if you end up with the wrong person...

Seeing more places this afternoon and tomorrow, so there should be some good choices. This is fun...I love it!

Plus I still have to buy a phone and a phone number...and deal with the shipping company about my stuff...and I have an interview at a local Unioversity early next week about something I am supposed to have been told about by my new partners, but haven't been yet, so I'll have to wing it while trying to lok like I know what's going on...

And here I thought I could relax in July.

But it's all GOOD!

Having Man there helping you out must certainly be a big bonus, hehe! Oh he's SO cute, I didn't dare to say that in my reply to his post because I didn't want to seem pushy or anything. Smile

How much time would you guys be spending in the townhouse/apartement as compared to your regular country home?

My plan is to work 4 days in Bangkok and have 3 days down at the beach/country house. On the other hand, Man says he plans on spending 1-2 days per week in the Big Mango with me, so we can't lose either way. It sort of depends on the scheduling demands from the University and when clients want to be seen. I might have to work Saturdays, but then would ideally take Monday off as compensation.

Even if I end up having to work 5 days, tho, it'll all be less than the 55-60 hour weeks I was doing in Hong Kong!

Oh, by the way, that huge townhouse is now not on the list. Too bigh, too expensive, and we really don't want to risk the room-mate issues.

I saw 6 other places today, with a really good agent who didn't try to steer me to more expensive places. One of them was a little house not far from the office, which has a bigger garden than the house is. The price is right, but it needs pretty comprehensive renovation work...like, how much might it cost to put in a new bathroom and kitchen and air conditioning? I don't really want to find out, thank you very much. Man says the garden would take months of time or thousands of $$ to do up more quickly, even tho it would be stunning and elegant when finished.

The place at the top of my list is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment in an almost new complex that is (oddly for Asia) Spanish/Mediterranean in design. It's more than 1,200 square feet, and ready to move in without renovation. And it has a pool view. And each of the bedrooms has a nice little terrace.

The prices here are sort of what you'd expect from any major urban area, but waaaay less than Hong Kong or New York. The asking price for the 2 bedroom is about US$700 per month.

Luckily the country house is only 30% of that!
