Yesterday I purchased a 6.5 lb turkey breast ($5.99/lb) to fix for tonight's dinner. My daughter and son-in-law are coming so I wanted to do something special. A little while ago I pulled it out of the fridge to begin. When I opened the package I was greeted by one of the most foul-smells that has ever crossed my nose. I damn near threw up. By the time I wrapped it back up and threw it away I was physically ill. The whole house stank. I felt dirty. I opened the doors and windows to air out the house, the scrubbed the kitchen and mopped the floor, even though I done the same yesterday. Afterwards I had to take another shower. I have lost all desire to cook, or even eat dinner and despite the shower, I still feel dirty.

I intend to go in and complain to the store manager about the quality of meat the are selling, but I don't know if I want to set foot into the store again. Ugh!

Think good thoughts,

Poor You ~
You need to do what my mama does......she gets so mad when that happens and she wraps it back up, plunks it down on the front counter, glares and says, "Gross!!" They ALWAYS give her her $$$ back and usually another whole whatever it was.

What did you end up having for dinner??

Haha !! I bet I know what kind of 'e' thoughts you were having Smile

Hope you found a way to salvage the evening - did you? Not much worse than rancid meat.

I was too ill to have many thoughts of any kind. After I cleaned the kitchen and took a bath I fell asleep in front of the TV for the afternoon. My stomach and head hurt too much for anything else. I still can't believe how sick I got just from the smell. That's never happened before. Back in high school, I cleaned barns for extra money and worked part time on a garbage truck. You don't get much that's worse smelling than that.

As for the rest of the evening, my daughter and son-in-law didn't show up. They had called my wife at work and cancelled. If they had come we'd have ordered pizza or Chinese for delivery. I ended up having hot dogs for dinner. All the other meat was frozen and no time to thaw.

Think good thoughts,
e
