Just a few days ago i was reading here the post about the autis children and others which have some kind of disability. It made me wonder about some things.

Today, while i was in school, we are require to real for atleast 10 minutes and so i was asked to pick up a book and start reading. I just grabed a random book, read the back and it seem interesting based from what i read. At first i think it would be the regular story about a teenger with some type of problem like sexual harassment or something similar. However as i started reading more the story turned out to be different than what i expected.

The story started in a casual manner and the kid started telling his story. Typical i thought. He told about the good things about his life and how he had an amazing talent to remember every word he has ever heard, every conversation, everything somebody told him sometime ago, things like that. If you asked me i think it would be very interesting and i decided to continue reading. Soon the kid started talking about the bad things about his life and that i where it shocked me. It turned out that the kid was like a vegetable, he had some brain dissorder he developed as a child which cause him to be paralyze. All he would do was to think. This is when it hit my mind that all this time the story was told from his mind. He never said a word. Now that changed the way i looked at the story. The kid went to explain how he wanted to do many things. Everybody thought of him as retard but infact he was very smart and many times he just wanted to talk and teach people about life. It's all he gets to do since he can't move; think and see things many of us don't even notice. The kid in the story sounds very enthusiastic, he has energy, he even says he can walk but his body won't let him. He says he has needs like every person. I like when he says he can't show a hard on , or masturbate or know what it feels to kiss, how the world around him really feels. So far i like when he says that there is times when he feels desperate, he wants to do many things but he found out is not the solution. Instead he develop an eagerness to learn even when nobody notices. All the doctors say he has the mentality of 4 month old and is never going to get better. His father wants to kill but they don't know how he really feels, he is 14 and thinks is too young to dies, he wants to learn. The kid so far in the story tries to tell and show everybody he is very smart but nobody notices.

I just started the story and i'm sure to finish it soon. This is a great book. I love this book, it has within a great message from a different perpective. I mean this is a small book (200 pages i think ) easy reading but is great.

Now it makes me wonder about the kids with those type of dissability or any kind for that matter. How much do we know about what they are really thinking? Maybe they being tying to tell us something but we don't understand. The point is not to get mad with them but instead try to understand them. We need to understand like the kid said in the story that there is person inside which has feelings and desires it is only their bodies that can not work right. I heard in the news about the autis kid who was kill buy somebody performing an exorcism just because his mother thought hes problem was he was pocess. This is clearly and example about people whi misunderstand what the boy was trying to say. It was not his fault he could express his feelings.

I don't know what do think about this?
I think is something worth to talk about.

P.S I don't rememeber the exact tittle of the book but i'll get it tomorrow in case you might want to look for it. I recommend this book.

The diversity of types of people and their experience of what they have to live thru is amazing...thanks for showing us another one, M.

I'd like to have the title and author of that book, please, when you have time.

Something else to think about. I have been reading a book about kids explaining what they go thru when they are diagnosed with a life-threatening disease. It's strong stuff, but worth the read. "How It Feels to Fight For Your Life" by Jill Krementz.

The chapter titles are all like, "Joseph, age 14", "Britta, age 8" and so on. All in their own words and pictures of them before and during their battles.

Inspiring is another word for books (and people) like these.
