Sooo...it only took me about an hour to figure out how to get onto the new MB...the saga is too infuriating to tell again. Many thanks to Ron for finally figuring out how to help me.
Timmy, you have to add some instructions for old MB reguistered users on how to get onto this MB, please, to possibly save others loads of hassle.
Now, why do I still have to have the old "david in hong kong" anywhere in my profile? I can't see a way to get rid of it, and that was part of my problem.
And why does it show my Yahoo messenger but not the MSN one I also entered? I really prefer the MSN anayhow, and almost didn't enter the Yahoo at all...
And yes, I was already having a grumpy morning anyhow...sorry!>:-(

Well, be it known that David has been there for me, offering his truly expert advice on matters of much greater gravity. Thank YOU, David!

Now you have "David in Hong Kong" because that is what you logged in as. If you want to create a new id, go ahead and create it. the bit in [....] is there to prevent impersonation.
I think I have now added instructions about 4 times ::-) :-* ::-)

David, we can correct just about anything. It's always easier to be new to a place than to have data transferred from one piece of software to another. We just need to know precisely what needs to be done, and then it CAN be done.
I suspect you would prefer to be using the id you created when you arrived in Thailand, since the id in [....] is the old one. That is there for a security reason, since you can choose any DISPLAY name you like. The bracketed login id shows who you "really are", or in your case who you used to be, and prevents impersonation.
The IM ids seems straneg issue. Megaman can solve all technical issues, so I am guessing he is already on top of this one.

it does show if others check your profile. the only reason why MSN and ICQ aren't shown besides your messages as icons, is that I don't know (yet) how to create a link that opens directly in MSN or ICQ messenger. if someone knows how or knows a board that provides that feature, that info would be welcome.

Megaman, The Glass Onion uses a different system entirely than this new one, so may not be useful to you, but it displays all the different messenger services in an individual's profile. http://www.theglassonion.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi is the link if you want to check it out.
Thanks for all your work on this new one, too!
