Please let us also remember Dresden and the flattening of it, The bombing of Coventry, the IRA and its UK attrocities supported by NorAid, The flattneting of London's docklands, the invention of indiscriminate bombing weapons like the V1 and V2, the use of chemical weapons, the holocaust, the crusades, the US Witchunt era, The Cuban Missile Crisis, the building of the Berlin Wall, The existence of Robert Mugabe, the awful issues between Israel and Palestine, the issues in Cyprus between the Greeks and Turks, all of the ethnic cleansing that took place in Serbia/Croatia/Albania, and so much more.
While many of us appreciate that the USA has, for the secind time in its history (the first time was by Japanese balloon borne bombs that killed many of a church party on a sunday picnic), been attacked by surprise and by an assault on its landmass, let us please also keep a sense of proportion and leave this one message as the remembrance, and get on with our lives knowing that imbeciles and evil people exist.
We have so far had the incident and the anniversary untroubled by jingoistic sentiment and we are not a political nor a partisan messageboard. Although I am at grave risk of offending staunch friends and American patriots, I say all of this without the intent of offending. It is just that it was, while terrible, not a unique event, and not one I want to turn this messagebaord over to. We are here to help those who need it, not for any other primary purpose.
