We were discussing values that people need today to be accepting and tolerant. Alot of you said that these values are inside you when you're born and you just develop them as you grow. We all need role models to help us decide the right paths to take and give us a clear picture of right and wrong. I found something that more fully explains why I was having trouble making myself clear. What I was questioning was what about the kids who have no one to look to:
'Written By A Child Looking Back'
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the fridge and I immediately wanted to paint you another one.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake and I learned that the little things can be special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I heard you say a prayer and I learned that I can talk to God.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal for a sick friend and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned to share.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and I learned to take care of what I am given.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good and I learned that I had to be responsible when I grew up.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears in your eyes and learned that sometimes things hurt but it's all right to cry.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned from you most of life's lessons that I needed to know to be a good and productive person.
When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say thank you for teaching me all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.
