Cruel authors that present us with a cliffhanger just when the reading gets good and the bottom of the page is in sight..What to do??? Lets have some input here and suitable ideas of torture as reward..Its time us readers stood up for our rights as readers.Happy endings should be law-of-the-land..

Well Rob... for me, i don't mind cliffhangers... except when it takes like 3 weeks to get the next chapter written...

for one, i have read all of smith's stuff on iomfats, and that is how i got to this MB... and i am so addicted to his story that i email him every time i read a chapter.. which is about 10 minutes after i get my email notification from Timmy...

now i say all that to say that smith told me he enjoys being a little shit about the last chapter... (his words, too !!!!!)... so maybe for punishment, we can put together a round robin story between us about authors that leave cliffhangers for people like us... who write stories about authors who like to leave cliffhangers.... does that make sense????

anyway, just funning with you here rob.... hope u are having a great week...

Hugs, Smiles, and Peace...

BamBam:-) Smile Smile Smile Smile

Oh pooh!

Cliffhangers happen in everyday life just as much as in stories. It's just the way it is. Besides, like smith said, it is fun to konw that the readers will be kinda upset, kinda antsy for the next chapter and, well, that they get so concerned with the story that a cliffhanger that the readers actually get worried about the characters.

So just remember, if you want to punish an author for using a legitimate tool of the storyteller's craft, then you punish yourself. And really, the best way to do that is to simply not read anything after the cliffhanger.

Which we know you wont, heheheheh.

Besides, if it weren't cliffhangers, what would cliffs do?

Tongue in check, my brothers.
Cya.

Ack! Can you imagine how unbelievably BORING a story without cliffhangers would be? There'd be very little major suspense and everything would constantly be wrapped up nicely at the end of each chapter - almost as though each chapter was its own book! Cliffhangers - and I'm sure someone has already said this but I'd like to reiterate the point - are the device authors employ to keep the audience interested. If an author makes the reader say "What? That can't happen NOW! It was getting GOOD!" then he or she is doing his or her job.

Of course this is not a serious subject, but in all fairness to readers out there who do have rights,Authors that cliffhang should be hung by their hangers..That would force them to be more inventive and conscious of their masters wishes, the reader..Afterall,you authors dooooooo slave for us dont you..We the readers are your rightful masters---we dictate terms and conditions.....you writers WILL obey our slightest wishes....No more cliff- hangers..Content,content and content will be the only softening of the lash.........rob

this was sposed to be a fun topic but mr maceronni seems pissed (spelling)How it got 15 responses must mean that cliffhangers are not cool..this is all very unfair..If these authors can torture us all with dreaded cliffhangers, then they should take a little ribbing and slapstick humor..rob:-P Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz

I write clifhangers on occasion......

I just love it when I hear people screech to a grinding halt....

LOL

I love em........

Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

That seems like a rather peculiar thing for God to say - "No more cliffhangers...................hehe.......rob." Was he talking to you, specifically? And why did he chuckle before saying your name? And how did YOU get a hold of a decree from God? Are you subscribed to some sort of mailing list? Can you give Him my address as well? (ha ha?)
