First, this board is not a "free resource" from a commercial website who wishes to gain a mailing list. And, unusually for a messageboard it has a privacy policy, which you can see by clicking the link at the top right hand side of the navigation bar. So registration and logging in get you precisely the benefits in the "about registration and login" link on the top left hand side of the nav bar, and NOTHING else.
It's there because, like Mount Everest, it is THERE.
You log in to use your registration.
If you want to be on the mailing list then you join it.
YOU choose your password, I don't give them out. I don't see what you choose either.
