Just though I'd let you guys know I haven't abandoned you. I've just been really, really busy.
School started last Wednesday. I'm in class from 4:30pm til 11pm. Tons of homework too. I wasn't counting on that part. It's fun though.
I've also been having problems with my 'puter. Don't know what's wrong. could be a software problem or hardware. I can't access my floppy or CDRom drives. Windows Device Manager tells me there are problems with my primary and secondary IDE controllers and my floppy controller. It says the drivers are missing or not installed, yet they are there. Could be that they are corrupt. I went to the website for the maker of my mainboard and downloaded the drivers, but the program wanted to install them onto a floopy disk and of course, mine can't be accessed. Don't know what I'm going to do about that. I can't get anything into or out of the 'puter.
Anyhow, as long as the 'puter will boot, I can still get online if I have the time.

Oh yeah, you guys are telling some really bad, bad jokes. Keep it up!!!

Neither. It's that you publish elsewhere first! So you get all your comments elsewhere.

It's not that I complain really. I got plenty of nice comments on the story when I first posted it, I just expected the audiences to be slightly different.
Anyway, thanks, Timmy. For everything.

Good to hear from you guys.
School is tons of fun, but also a lot of hard work. I had my first exams last night. Not sure how I did, ok I think. The classwork is mostly learning terminology, names of equipment and such. Not much cooking yet. We've been going over knife cuts and some very basic procedures like making stocks, sauteing, and blanching. These things are pretty simple really, but it's amazing how many steps they can be broken into. We were supposed to make pasta last night, but ran out of time so it's item 1 on tonight's agenda.
Lenny, my puter is a AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz, MSI VIA KT333 mainboard, 512 MB RAM, ATI Rage Fury Pro AGP video. The OS is Windows 98 SE. Any help obtaining drivers for the MB that don't have to be installed from a floppy or CDRom drive would be appreciated.
The granddaughter is doing just fine. She's really growing. Her second b-day is coming up in Nov. She talks all the time, though it's hard to tell what she's saying. If I don't understand, she grabs my hanbd and pulls me to whatever it is she wants. A couple days ago she was hungry and wanted cheese so she took me to the fridge, put my hand on the door, and when I opened it, she says "cheese" and points to the package. She also brought grandma to the sofa where I was sitting and put grandma's hand on my foot indicating that it was time for grandma to give grandpa a foot massage (I really liked that). Of course she helped by grabbing my toes and wiggling them. ;-D ;-D

Why not publish pretty much simultaneously in future?

I suppose I just wanted to beta-test it there first. Just didn't intend to let the guys at the library steal ALL thunder, haha.
Ooh goodie, Queer Eye's on in a few minutes! Those guys are hilariously amazing. Hilarious while simultaneously being simply amazing. It's so funny hearing them insult the guys they're helping, and then they totally fix them up while keeping true to the guy's personality. This show could have been SO bad and SO corny, but instead it isn't! That's more of a miracle than anything else I've seen in my life I think.
On a side-note: I know I said I didn't really like any of the guys. That's not entirely true...
Jai Rodriguez is so HOTTT! Especially in that yellow, open-necked tight shirt he has on this week. I can't believe I didn't discover him until last week's episode, but dang, he is soooo cute... OMG. He's got such an amazing tall, slender neck, and wow! Look at that amazing skin tone! I so adore guys with a bit of color to them, but pale or really dark is so nice too, or anything inbetween. ...Except maybe, really reddish-pinky, that looks kinda stupid. Sorta like me, I guess, lol. Hehe, no, that's not really true, I'm more kinda pasty dotted with birthmarks. Anyway, it's good to not be fussy about these things. Means I got more to choose from! Anyway, his skin is just amazing, and he looks really great in that short-cropped hair too, it emphasizes his boyish looks, and his eyes... OMG, lookie at those sweet dark eyes and that purdy lil mouth! I want him, or I could settle with another guy just like him I guess...
And OMG, he can SING too! *gigggggle*

It's incredible to see people who can really cook strut their stuff, it really is. They can do like a starter course with some kind of rolled thingies with salmon or such, a marinated, glazed oven-grilled roast with filled, baked potatoes and all kinds of accessories and veggies n stuff on the side, a salad, dessert, and then round it off with a "...and it's so eeeasy!"
LOL!
I really admire that, and it's really great to read you using terms like 'blanching', something I have only the vaguest of ideas what it really is! You gotta tell more please, coz I really luv hearing about it, and as you can see, it seems I reply much quicker on the board than I do via email! *giggle* Yes, my bad I know, and you know, so I hope this makes up for it. Please forgive my tardiness...
Anyway, your granddaughter seems like an AMAZING girl! So full of personality, color and character at such an early age, that's incredible... Guess she had a good foundation given to her to build on.
As for your somewhat silly computer, you could try restarting it, then hammer F8 constantly until you get a boot menu. Select Safe Mode and let it finish booting. Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop, then select Properties in the menu. Select the Device Manager tab. Remove the floppy drive, the CDROM and the IDE primary and secondary IDE channels, then the IDE controller by opening up the appropriate sub-headings, then clicking the devices and pressing the delete key on your keyboard. Confirm the message box that appears to make em go away.
Restart again and let the computer re-detect the hardware. You might have to restart again, maybe more than once. Just let windows be annoying and preservere, then see if things starts to work the way they're supposed to.
If not, go to http://www.via.com and download a file called the 4-in-1 driver pack. You shouldn't really NEED it, at least not for the floppy drive (since that's a universal piece of hardware), but hey... If it works, why question WHY it works? Anyway, just download the file to your harddrive, preferably to some place you know where to find it again (it's always good to keep things tidy, just like a kitchen. You should keep your driver files and such that you download in their own directories just like you don't stack all your pots and cutlery and china and such in a big pile in a corner of the house etc). Run the program and follow the on-screen instructions. It should mostly be a matter of pressing next-next-next in a wizard.
Hope it works. If not, just gimme a holler okies?
HUGS for my great friend e:

I already tried the uninstall then re-install the drivers bit. But I will give the website a try. Hopefully that will work.
Last night's cooking class was soooo fun. We got to make pasta which we will use tonight to make pasta primavera and pasta carbonara. YUM! Pasta Carbonara is one of my favs!!! I have a recipe, but the one we will use at school is different and looks like it may be better. We also practiced a couple of mother sauces (bechamel and veloutte), and made a killer carrot and ginger soup.
OK, I admit I got so excited about the cooking that I forgot to tell you guys about the absolutely HOT GUYS in the class. There are several, but the hottest three are Andre who is kind of goofy. He dropped out already, but said he will come back in January. He wanted a new instructor. Anyway he is maybe 5'10, dark skin for a white boy, big round brown eyes, brown hair, athletic build, but not muscular, and a nice smile and 19 years old. Adam isn't quite as pretty, but his smile knocked my socks off. He's about 6' and is 18 with blond hair and blue eyes. Thin and not particularly athletic but wide shoulders. I think he may be gay. ::-) But the best is Brandon. He's maybe 5'8" and I'd guess he's half white, half Asian. Bright brown eyes and dark brown hair. I'd guess he's 18 or 19, but I haven't gotten the chance to talk to him yet. He's got the cutest pug nose, slightly turned up and a smile that is taller than it is wide. When I first saw him, he reminded me of a little puppydog and I wanted to take him home. ;-D Then there's "Spiderman", yup same name as Spidy's "normal identity." blond hair, green eyse, moustache, mid-twenty-ish. Very athletic build, broad shoulders, but not overly muscular. His station is right next to mine so we get to talk a bit. There are others, these are the ones I like to watch. There's a couple cute girls too, but I haven't paid nearly as much attention.
Think good thoughts,

Thanks for trying, Lenny, but downloading new drivers didn't work. Problem is still there. I went to MSI's website and sent them an email about the problem. Hopefully they can tell me what to do next. I got a feeling this is going to cost me more money. :'-( :'-( :'-(

Hi Lenny!
I just want you to know this about me: I love to cook. When I was a boy my Mom nad Dad didn't get along so well. They used to stay away hopnig to not see the other. As a result, I learned to make an omlett at age 5. My younger brother and sister had to eat, just as I also had to find something. But that is not my whole story. I grew to hate cooking because I had to do it.
Only later did I learn that when I cooked (when I didn't have to) that I actually loved it. To me flavors are like colors on a canvas. I have never used a recipe for any meal I have ever made. I have many stories about my cooking over the years. I have been told I am an excellent chef. I wonder how that is possible seeing as how I have no real training. But I do love it.
I have had a few problemms with it though. One night I made a Tortellini salad for a party for one of my friends. It was the first thing gone out of all the food. Soon I had three requests to make that again for other parties and I had to decline. I didn't know how to make it again. Sure I could come close, but I could never make it exactly the same way again. Sad really. But I did feel good about my one creation. Painting last forever, food does not. But I really like when I do it right.
I hope to make dinner for some of you here some day.
Love to all,
Kevin

It's not hard to learn to cook on your own. Just takes practice and patience. I did it for years at home without any training, but after I strating watching Food Network, I learned some techniques and got better. I'm hoping to get even better now that I'm getting some training. I rarely follow recipes, though I do use them. Most often I start with the recipe and alter it because I don't have all the right ingredients or I think I can improve it. Then I like to write down what I did so I can do it again if people like it.

Dang, you're making me envious both of you. Kevin, I'd love to be able to make an omelette, I'm probably as inept at it as Lyra, though I wouldn't actually burn it or get egg shells in it! Haha!
I have tried in the past, but I never managed to get it into a big fluffy solid chunk like those awesome omelettes I had in Paris almost ten years ago. Those were probably the best I ever ate in my life.
Are the French extra good at making omelettes you think?
I do know how to make some reeeally yummy pancakes though, we don't use baking soda here in Sweden, ours are usually larger in diameter and much thinner. Mine are supreme, though incredibly unhealthy I suppose. They get this awesome golden-brown color though, and the smells... Aaaah! Magnificient!
My entire apartement smells of pancakes for an entire day or more after making them, and a full batch lasts me for two big dinners. Best savored - in my opinion - with raspberry marmelade spread on top and made into a roll which is then cut up in sections. YUUUUUUUUM!
My recipie? Heh. Come make me dinner and I'll tell you. ;-D

I never really went anywhere. I just don't have quite as much time as I used to. I still come by everyday and read at least a few posts, though I haven't always made comments and I can't read them all.

It's so nice every time you take time to reply, I really LOVE talking to you. That goes for you Kevin too of course! I know I don't show it well enough (and I can't do it this time either coz my eyes are killing me from staring too long at a monitor screen today - and yesterday - I'm going offline for the night in a lil bit), but I just wanted to tell you guys.
Thank you so much and lots of love in return!
Take care...
I have a hug for either of you anytime you want one!

Jaman!
I have a picture of Jai on my binder!
Along with Kyan and a few other celeberities.
I love his skin-tone too.
He looks soft, yet very malish at the same time. I like that.
I have a light tan, but it is nice and even.
I don't like being that dark, and it is so easy to get that way here in California.
You said when you'd die that you'd walk with me every day
And I'd start to cry and say please don't talk that way
With the blink of an eye the Lord came and asked you to meet
You went to a better place but He stole you away from me
