As you may or may not know, I'm a Cinema and Photography major here at College. One of the classes that we are forced to take is an interesting course entitled "Film Aesthetics and Analysis," in which we sit down, watch "cinema" and take notes - an act that is hard to perform in a darkened theater! Anyway, we watched "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari," an old, silent movie from Germany. It was . . . interesting. Anyway, the creature that Dr. Caligari has is a somnambulist so I thought you had seen the word in the film.
Wow.
That was a lot of text to describe such a boring and banal thought process. *grins cause he knows SOME poor soul will read it eventually*
Adios, fellas!

yup, i've read that you are! and that actually sounds really neat, and now i want to find a way to get my hands on that ... i've always been secretly in love with silent films, though my experience with viewing them is next to nil.
they did a 'buffy the vampire slayer' episode in silent-film form, and that was one of my favorite episodes ever. it made the show ALMOST worth it, hehe.

Silent films weren't silent; they were usually accompanied by a person on a piano or - on rare occassions - an entire orchestra. While most people know about the piano's use as a silent film companion, fewer are aware of the full orchestra and even fewer know that in France, silent films were shown with popular music. So, if you would like to have an authentic yet contemorary silent film experience, you should watch the movie while playing a collection of popular tunes. It really changes the film.
