Disgusting, me thinks. It seems strange to me that the Vatican preaches respect for life, but then promotes spreading AIDS through neglect.
I think that it's hypocrisy.
Okey, I'll get off my soap-box now.

You said when you'd die that you'd walk with me every day
And I'd start to cry and say please don't talk that way
With the blink of an eye the Lord came and asked you to meet
You went to a better place but He stole you away from me

Anyway, in their defense, they are assuming that only MARRIED people have sex because that is the only intercourse they condone. So, they are also assuming that MARRIED people are not going to go around spreading any infectious diseases because they are MARRIED and therefore ought not to be sleeping around. However, this view is - of course - based on quite a number of assumptions that tend not to jive with current-day situations. But that IS what they were thinking when they said what they did.

I get the distinct impression that one is defending these people as being rational persons that are able to act in a responsible and rational manner..It would seem that their words and actions condemn them, however that is for history to decide I guess. What really surprises me is the lack of response to this post..Where is the moral outrage against the terrible crime that is being committed by these people????......rob>Sad

With all due respect,,,, Where are the links to the information in question?

It is an incorrect assumption that we all watch television and read news papers....

A little data will precipitate a little more response....

I share your anger over this and have vented at several other boards. I intentionaly did not bring up the topic here, because I didn't want to stir things up.
You had asked before what the purpose was of the "yell, scream and Vent" board, Posts such as this one belong there. Yell and scream all you want and people yell back and all the anger and bad emotions stay over there and don't spread to the other message boards.

and any discussion, no matter how contraversial, as long as it is discussed with care and feelings for the other readers here is not a bad thing.

It really is a matter of personal control and keeping things in perspective.

I would still like to see the news feed that began all this about condom condemnation. Can anyone provide the link?

A web-site with good reports on this is bbc.co.uk.

It seems to be a good site...

But if I wanted to wade through a site looking for the information I could do that about anywhere.

The direct link to the article is helpful. Anything less and I just don't have the time.

The Vatican's position on contraception has been adamantine for about as long as the concept itself.

The church's official view is that anything that prevents the bringing of new worshipers into the world is considered subversive to the mandated survival of the religion itself.

Thus the church spreads whatever misinformation as they deem fit to inflict on the unsuspecting masses.

Just as in the 10th century when disease, war, the sighting of comets and the like were used as tools of propaganda to entice the "flock" to listen and obey without question the authority of the church.

Just my 2 cents worth

If that's the way you fell,I guess I'll have to rethink the part where I say that I AGREE with you.
I'll be quiet now....
