This is a thread that was started by Kevin, but somehow became acrimonious, so I now put in my twopennyworth in a different thread.

There is no way that we can bring the whole world into harmony. "Even" the United Nations can't do that. I think that Marc is right when he says that we must concentrate on the micro not on the macro. This brings us back to the question that I asked many weeks ago. It caused a rumpus then and I hope that it won't do so this time.

There is no 'positive' way I can interact with other people until I know what their preferences are (or are most likely to be). This presents no problem in our interactions with people we know, but it is very problematic with the other 6,000,000,000 people on this planet.

I truly believe that if people, in their interactions with strangers, were to really try to put into practice the aphorism that you will see below gradually the world would become more peaceful. Very gradually. Not in my lifetime. Not in smith's lifetime. But if we start now it may come about in the lifetime of smith's grandchildren.

And what better place to start than on this Message Board? "Never do to anyone else something that you would not like them to do to you."

Here endeth today's sermon... ;-D

It was a suggestion of a baby step towards a larger end.

Nothing more.

Love everyday,

Kevin

It has been proposed that we all try and make our respective tiny corner of the world a better place.

Well, lets have some ideas, suggestions, input or perhaps relate an experience you might have had that might have made an impact on another persons life.

Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...

The old saying, act locally, think globaly, applies here. Dispite all the other factors that can be brought into play here I think one that has kinda been over looked sorta is that most people are spending there time just trying to find a way to survive in this world, much less finding the time and space to be kind to the guy on the garbage heep next to you trying to find enough to eat just to make it through the day. Sorry if that sounds harsh but really guys M made a post a while back that I thuink should be refured to.
It's a simple fact that those of us that can sit in comfort in front of our puters and have these discusions is one or two percent of the total world population.
Can the world live this ideally? No, not with out a certain amout of equatability. Can that be achived? I doubt it.
What's that old saying though? Noblus Oblige, I know I'm way off on the spelling. We if you will, we are now the noble of the world today and are obliged to use the resource we have to the highest good we can.

People will tell you where they've gone
They'll tell you where to go
But till you get there yourself you never really know
Where some have found their paradise
Other's just come to harm

Both Marc and Warren have impacted my life with their friendship, the road has been a bit rocky, mainly because I am so stubborn. These guys have walked the mile to be supportive and most important,be friends.---Marc--Warren sent some system requirements that I do not understand the terms at all..What I do have is a Gateway-366mhz--gp6-355c..It when new only had a 7ghz harddrive..I updated to 40ghz harddrive..The computer was purchaced new in 98 and has second edition windows 98..Over a period of time, several programs have corrupted themselves either by virus or just bad design..Word is history and the occasional pop up of an ileagle operation has me pulling my hair out..The monitor is a 15 inch gateway ev500.Modum is 56k and the printer is a epson color stylus 440..Sorry to use this venue to write, but E-mail is acting strange.........rob......PS .kev I do respect you, just not your views...
