Faggot - a stalk of celery tied with parsely, bay leaf, and thyme used in cooking soups and then discarded.

It seems that in the culinary world at least there is a use for us before we are discarded.

Think good thoughts,

Hi Kevin. In my class we've learned to call this a bouquet garni. I found this definition quite by accident while looking for something else in my culinary dictionary.

E's Place won't open for at least a year. I'm just taking final s for my first term this week. There's about a year left to go. After that, who knows?

Better to call it something in French instead! Wink

Will you really go for your own restaurant, e? That's sweeeeeet! What theme would you focus on? (PLEASE don't say 'beer!', lol!)

Do you watch Queer Eye btw? The food guy is definitely growing on me, he's so cool and laid-back, and he has this really low-key wit that reminds me of my dear friend Nick. Smile Was many times during my visit this past summer that Nick made a quite ordinary sentence into a really funny sentence with just one word or so. I love that! Smile

Dunno if he knows it himself, but he has a great sense of humor. Smile

Nice huggles for you too:

how strange, i never knew that! i knew that 'fag' meant cigarette ... but didn't, at first. i had to reread this story twice before i understood it was slang:

"put the fag out, please."
"WHAT did you just say about---?!?!"
"...your *cigarette*, not your brother, amy."

Slang can be rather interesting. Sometimes you just gotta wonder where some of this stuff comes from.

Owning my own place is one of the things I'm thinking about. But it's just one of many possibilities. I'm not sure I want to get tied down to a job like that. My wife and I have talked about living part time in Europe. We would have to work while we're there. that's some thing I think would be really cool, but I couldn't possibly own my own place and do that. Another option is to go to work for a major hotel or casino. I've talked to a recruiter from Harrah's Casino( one of my favorites in Vegas). The guy I spoke with is from Lake Tahoe, but said that he could put me in touch with the right person in Vegas if I'd rather work there. Harrah's owns 27 casinos across the US.

If I did own my own place, I'd likely go one of two ways. One way would be to own a bed and breakfast. The breakfast part would include a small restaurant and catering business. I talked about the country inn type thing we did for "Restaurant Day." This would be very similar. The other does include beer (sorry Lenny Sad ). I've been considering a brewpub type place, but perhaps a little more upscale than most. That would allow me to do two things I really love, cooking great food and brewing beer. Ideally, I might be able to combine both ideas. The big drawback is that owning your own business is a lot more work than I really want (not to mention the risk). I rather like the freedom of living and working part time in Europe, then coming home every few months. I also like the payscale of a place like Harrah's. There are lots of plusses and minuses to all the ideas, but I've got a lot of time to consdier them.

I watche the first four or five episodes, but haven't seen one for a while. It just never seems to be on when I have time to watch the tube. I'm almost as hot for Jai as I am for Brandon (the super cutie in my cooking class).;-D ;-D ;-D

...So we can catch TV shows that are inconveniently scheduled. Smile Jai *IS* hot, they should do more about him. His part in the remake process is even gayer than Carson's. I mean, lots of str8 guys like to shop for clothes, but the old myth of most male dancers being gay isn't. A myth, that is. Smile

Anyway, don't worry about the beer, I was just kidding. I think it's cool when people turn an interest into an occupation, and there's a cook over here btw who's made at least one cook-book with beer-only recipies. Dunno if there are any desserts in there or not though, so you might have him beaten with your beer icecream thingy there! Smile Beer sponge cake, wonder how that tastes? Smile

The part-time job in Europe sounds wonderful (because then maybe I'd get to see you! Smile ), any particular country you'd prefer, or would you try different ones each time or something like that?

When I lived on Cape Cod, I was working one evening with some Irish students and one of them asked if I minded if he went out and had a fag.

Without thinking I answered, "Sure, there are pleanty to go around."

It didn't click with him for about three days.

We were planning on moving around so we can see the entire continent. We thought maybe we'd spend 9 months to a year in each place then come home for 3 to 6 months. I thought about Paris, Rome, Vienna, Amsterdam, and of course, somewhere in jolly old England. But I really WANT to meet you too, so Sweden is also on the list. ::-)

And the best part about having a fag is that if he's really good, you can have him more than once. ;-D ;-D ;-D
