I will be working a one-time event this Saturday. It's a banquet. I'll be working for Chef Wolfgang Puck who hires a lot of students from my school to assist with special events. It's doubtful that he will actually be there, but it is his company. I don't know what exactly I will get to do, but I'm really excited about it.

Tonight's class was chicken supreme with brussel sprouts and pommes Anna and chicken soup. Mmm-mmm good! Sad) Sad) Sad)

Think good thoughts,

Many smiles and cuddly hugs winging themselves your way, you can count on it!

I'd tell you to knock 'em dead with your cooking, but that could be interpreted the wrong way! Sad) Instead I'll say, just be awesome, okies? Smile

Take care:

Aweomse to hear of the job!

the fruits of your labors like this. First, you got good grades, and now this opeing gig...

WHEEEEEE!

I thought of you today, when I finished an excellent lunch at one of my favorite restaurants. I sent special thanks back to the chef!

It's an Italian place, but here in Asia, even "simple" dishes often come out pretty...umm...unusual. But this was all great. The Caesar Salad wasn't iceburg lettuce with Thousand Island dressing. Need I say more?!

The maitre de was so surprised at my request that he went and hauled the poor guy out of the kitchen to meet me. He was very shy, but beaming hugely. That was as much fun as the meal.

Thanks for the behind the scenes intro to the world of cooking. I don't answer all the time, but I read everything with great interest.

"Brussels Sprouts" and "Good" without a negative, is an oxymoron!

Getting started

Sound like another yummy day at school.

There was an article in the local paper about this farmer located nearby that specializes in all sorts of designer vegies. They also opened some sort of institute (i saw the new sigm as I drove past the place) but I am not sure if it is for growing or cooking the vegies. I will look into it further.

Any new recipes???

OOOH... Also I added a book of German home cooking to my collection. It's neat with loads of pictures too.

Good luck with the Puck.

I had to say it.

I must be the weirdo in the bunch, because I don't mind Brussel sprouts at all. I like most vegetables except lima beans and a few select others.

Congratulations e, knock em dead (not literally ... hehe)

Much love and success to you,

Kevin

HEH! to each their own!

Thanks everybody. I am so looking forward to this that I can't wait til this evening. I don't expect that I'll get to cook. I'll probably end up prepping veggies or plating, but it'll be fun anyways.

I DO like Brussels sprouts. Even when I was kid and my mom fixed those awful frozen ones she'd buy at the supermarket (I refuse to eat them now that I've had fresh). Fresh ones are really good. Last night they were blanched, cut in half (top to bottom) then sauted in butter with little bits of carrot, celery, onion, and garlic, then topped with some fines herbs (tarragon, chives, chervil, parsley). YUM!

Think good thoughts,
e

Humm... I remember when I was 5, my grandmum and older aunt made me eat 5 brussels-sprouts. I puked everywhere, over the table.
