The assignment was "Self Portrait" I called it "Home Sweet Home 1" This is one of six photos. I'll do the others later. It really freaked out the other kids in my class, though.

Before I get any "Spot-tone" comments, I'd like to say that those blemishes on the left were fixed when I turned the photo in. This version was not the final copy.

Hmm... I've never done a self-portrait before, so I'm not 100% comfortable in commenting on this, but...
I liked the subject matter, despite the fact that you look himicidal in that pose.
You said when you'd die that you'd walk with me every day
And I'd start to cry and say please don't talk that way
With the blink of an eye the Lord came and asked you to meet
You went to a better place but He stole you away from me

A few months back i took a picture of myself with a webcam and i too came out looking kind of evil.. they type of person who seems very nice ( personality ) but in reality is more evil than what you can imagin. But i can assure you , i'm a nice guy...or.... maybe not
Take a look ... do i really look that evil??/

The picture makes you look evil...
I do not think most people look that brilliant in pictures though.
I look like I'm either 1. Plotting, or 2. Evil.

you do look evil, but ... then again i kind of *like* that look. sure, pretty and happy poses that remind us of rainbow smiles and cheery eyes are nice and all, but sometimes a little darker side (which we all have, i don't care who you are) is nice to see, too. i like this picture, as well as the initial picture that began this thread.
all of my pictures come out either evil looking, or i look depressed. everyone says i look distant or wonder if i ever smile (which i do, but when taking pictures that i know are occuring, it's hard for me TO smile, as opposed to someone else taking a picture, not a timed camera for instance, and catching me off guard, which are the best pictures). i have some that would probably terrify you all (i think i've scared lenny with a few, heh...).
both both the pictures here, are great, in my opinion.

i'd post a few as an example to torture you all, but i still have yet to figure out how to put pictures IN the posts. i'm curious to show you all this one from last april where my eyes look black (pupil dilation from medication i was forced on, but i AM smiling sorta yes!), whereas normally they are hazel/orange.

Evil? Maybe not. Perhaps "brooding" or "menacing" would better fit your pose. I think in your case it's the pseudo-fisheye lense effect that creates the "weird" look. Kinda' coincidental when you think about it - both our photos have that "head-tilted, eyes up, 'Donnie Darko' look."
Like I said, a lot of my fellow students were disturbed (but in a good way) by my photo set because I tend to be on the cheery side. It's like this extremely cheery guy turned in a self-portrait assignment full of brooding pictures exploiting negative space. Wait, that's EXACTLY what it's like!
(haha) so I'm lacking in the legitimate analogy department - cut me some slack; it's two forty-six in the morning.
(insert snappy and witty concluding sentence here)

I liked them, strangely enough!
It's in my opinion nothing wrong with NOT smiling, or even looking brooding/menacing/etc in a picture even though we're "supposed" to look happy. Being different is sort of what life's all about in a way, to stand out from the crowd...
Take care everyone.

Hey! Really cool pic Machelli! ;-D ;-D ;-D
In school plays, I like playing evil roles.
That's why I'm usually picked as an antagonist.
I really like the pic! You look so cool!
Really kick ass! Heh-heh! ^_^ evil rules!;-D

One of the great things about photography is that we can give ourselves many different "looks." We can show ourselves to be evil or menacing in one pic, then sweet and charming in the next. When I was in high school I was really into photography and even had a basic darkroom in the basement. I used to take photos of the sports teams at school and sell them to the players, even had a couple published in the local paper. And yes, I did some self portraits. Too bad I no longer have any of those old pics. Keep up the good work and keep on sharing with us.
Think good thoughts,
e

Well that is exactly why this picture makes me look "menacing" because i'm the type of guy who is always smiling, in fact they call me "Mr. Smile". I heard it from a teacher the other day.
When i saw this pic, i thought i looked mean which does not go with my personality. Someone told me i can be the perfect candidate to be a punk rocker, spike my hair up, wear black clothes, pain my nails, all that goes with being a person of that sort. I have the looks already. I don't believe so but oh well.
Maybe some of the other guys post pics like this...
