Saddam has been captured. He is to be held for trial by those who he wronged, robbed, raped and brutalized. Whatever else happens, I rejoice for one reason. Now that he's caught we can bring the boys back home. Maybe not in time for Christmas for our families, but soon enough.
And let there be peace with all of us.

Anything that brings less killing in the world is a positive thing. I hope and pray for that result, but I will reserve judgement for a later date.
Give peace a chance,

yeah, i actually just read 2 articles about that--two because i wasn't sure i believed the first one. it seems almost TOO easy, that he was caught with no fight/firefight or anything?
i wonder what happens now. can almost hear the world holding its breath.

Remember Comical Ali, the Iraqui Information Minister who stood on the roof of the Hilton hotel brandishing a pistol saying he would go down fighting killing Americans left and right, only to surrender without much of a fuss once he found guns pointing his direction?
I think these guys like being alive too much to fight back. Saddam alledgedly said if he had them, he'd send hundreds of his sons to their death after Uday and Qusay died this past summer. Note, SONS, not himself.
Furthermore, good ol' Slobo, Slobodan Milosevic, ex-President of Jugoslavia, also surrendered and was delivered to the international wartime tribunal despite being protected by armed bodyguards in his home and threatening to go out in a blaze of glory etc etc.
HUGS for you!

i almost bought a 'comical ali' T-shirt talking about there are no american soldiers in baghdad, with like a slew of them behind him and stuff. except i used the 10 dollars for gas, instead, hehe!
it's so strange. my mother is watching the CNN now, same story over and over, like back in march...
and i JUST got home from finishing shopping, and am going to wrap shi's presents before she gets back from her dad's. text-chat i will try to get back here in an hour--voice is hard on weekends, as everyone's all up in my business, and immediately think that if i take the laptop/equip. back into my bedroom, i'm apparently conducting pornographic interviews or "talking bad" about my mother, etc.
ok, it's not THAT bad, but she does continually walk in to see what i'm doing, walk by (god god god i need to get out of this house this year), so voice-chats are easier during the week!
i will try to get here though, and if not i will definitely email. now that i've totally hijacked this thread, i will give it back, hehehe.
hugs & love,
h.

Did it ever occur to any of you that these people didn't resist because they were living in fear and the things they said were out of that fear of what their leaders would do to them or to their families.
I know I would shake my fist at the devil himself if I knew my family would be boiled alive in camel piss if I didn't.

the problem is the boys can't come home. Not yours and not ours. As the occupying power we have a major responsibility to create law and order and stability and to pass the nation back to an elected government. Until then we have to police it

Oil interests will cause our involvement in the middle east for a long time to come. We have our talons in the barrel and I don't thing we will easily or willingly let go.

You and Marc are both correct on these points. I truely hope your wrong, but logic tells me your right on target.
Lets hope for a better future somehow.
