I found this and thought that you all would be interested. After you
vote they give the results.

I urge everyone on this list to not only make your voice heared, but to also pass this link along to others you know that are in favor of same sex marriages.

The outcome is depressingly predictable, and yet higher than I would have expected in favour

I am by no means certain that the result would be the same in other countries; in my own I suspect that the percentage of those prepared to accept some kind of civil accomodation would be much greater.
But even in the US: more than a quarter of the respondents to this poll are in favour of some kind of legally recognized union and that is a very large minority. In a democracy such a large minority should not be denied rights that harm no one else.

Very good points, Steve.
The good news is that with my Gen-Y, resistance to gay-rights is small.
It is still great in my parents' and my grand-parents' generation though.

I refused to take this poll because of the extreme right wing group that puts it on. Also, it is sent out to members that are 96% in favor of a constitutional ban on gay marriage.
So it's really not urprising that you would have a higher than normal number of people taking that poll against gay marriage.
Just thought you ought to know that.

I apologize, Dallas.
It was a "spur of the moment" reaction on my part to do my own posting of this. When I saw it in my e-mail I just posted it here without even thinking to check first to see if anybody else had already done so. However, since I have a feeling that we are "of accord" on this issue, I'm hoping you're not too upset with me (but I apologize, anyway).
Forgive me?

Well, I tried voting, but really only so I could see the current results, but regardless it didn't let me, oh well. I don't think online polls are REALLY capable of doing a lot, plus I'm not American, so I don't think I should really be having a say in the matter. There has been a lot of talk amongst some gay group about trying to skew the results and whatever else and then the talk about the AFA deleting those duplicate posts and whatever else.... well, it is a poll on a site with a specific demographic of viewers, the results aren't going to accurately express a real opinion and really I don't see why instead, if the AFA are so concerned with getting an accurate opinion that they don't just petition the government to hold a refferendum (sp?) on the issue. I doubt there is any reason to worry about the results of this poll, surely American Congress can't be that stupid as to actually think the results accurately express what the American public want....

I voted in this poll and now, for my pains, I have been subjected to a missionary tract which I find quite nauseating. Has anyone else been favoured with this "epistle"?

Yupper,
This scam seems to be some sort of target generator for obviously unwanted hate propaganda.
Life is great for me... Most of the time... But then I meet people online... Very few are real friends... Many say they are but know nothing of what it means... Some say they are, but are so shallow...
