Getting started

Hi all,

I am now on the other side of the world, Rhode Island, the smallest state in USA. Luckily the weather has returned to normal, just under sub zero, instead of -30 F. Will be here for the next couple of weeks before flying back to the equator, neighbouring country to David's. My first winter ;-D

In another thread, Andy and I was discussing just exactly how "mature" I am Smile. So I start this new post as it could lead to some interesting discussions. No ..no.. not about my age (hee..hee.)but whether it is any advantage to first introduce myself by stating my age and other information as to whether I am straight or gay or bi or whatever.

I have pondered about that before my intro and decided to leave it out as I think it would be too much infor too soon.

It is a double edge sword. Not knowing who we are dealing with makes it difficult to know how they will react to our comments and this is also where many misunderstanding can arise from. But knowing too much to soon may creat sterotyping and close off the oportunity for better understanding.

I assume a wait and see stance. Wait to see how the posters' personalities are revealed by what they write. Some from their comments reveal their experiences in life, some are sweet, some are not.

BTW Andy, I am thirty with a little bit of dust (couldn't resist that Smile I properbly got the French saying all wrong. Anyone know the correct expression?)

So Andy, is that "mature" like your mom's age mature.... or like your brother's age mature... or teacher age or like over the hill or mid life crisis??

cheers
Ena

I like you introducing yourself slow, good idea! Makes what you do tell more important when you tell us later on.

And cool that you're from over here somewhere, I like that a lot! Our International mix is one of the assets here...it adds richness to our group.

And about 30 being over the hill? Hahaha

Nope...'fraid not... I'm 51, and my partner Man is 32, so you're barely a Geezer yet from my point of view.::-) ::-)

Have fun in Rhode Island!

Well, don't know where you stack up as far as Andy's concerned, but you're a spring chicken compared to me, though I'm not quite as old as David. I'm half again your age but sometimes feel I'm twice as old as you and sometimes I act about half your age. So there. As for all that other stuff, I suppose we'll get to know each other soon enough.

Think good thoughts,
e
