An annual event in this neck of the woods is the Goshen (Connecticut) Fair, which always takes place on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend (Labor Day always being the first Monday in September), and is one of the major of the many such rural fairs that take place in late summer and early autumn (and is something this "city slicker" looks forward to in order to regain some balance). Several years ago, a friend of mine and I were there one day when they were having a sheep shearing demonstration. There were four sheep lined up next to each other being sheared, each bleating in what sounded like a different voice range (the "tenor" being the most prominent). It was just too obvious: it was a "baaa-bershop" quartet, featuring lead tenor Luciano "Baaa-varotti" (I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist...)!
Those horses reminded me of those sheep. I have no doubt they would feel right at home at the Goshen Fair!
Thanks, smith!
