So I had a unique experience last week, and wanted to tell you all about it.
Most of you know that I'm not a really savvy Internet guy, nothing like Lenny or other friends here by any means. I surf very little and mostly use the Net for things like this MB and reading stories, doing emails and such.
But last week a friend of mine in the US sent me the URL address for an erotic website of Asian guys, thinking it might be fun for me to surf thru, since my thing is Asian guys.
So I surfed on over, of course, as we all do from time to time. I was astonished to find that I personally know a bunch of the guys whose pictures are in there. That never happened to me before.
It wasn't shocking, and I wasn't scandalized, nothing like that. These guys are all of legal age. But it's quite a surprise that something that I consider mostly "impersonal" to be suddenly very personal indeed! "Hey, that's my friend on my computer screen! Huh!"
See, Man and I hang out in one particular gay bar near our house. It's a neat place, friendly and warm, and we have come to know everybody who works there over the years. I am "Uncle" David, and some of the guys use me as a sort of shrink sometimes, and also an encyclopedia of stuff having to do with "western" knowledge. (Like, "Why do American gay guys...x, y, or z..." and then I attempt to delve into cultural differences, and like that.
Well, this bar also has go-go dancing, and the dancers are also technically commercial sex workers, altho it's nothing like Western "prostitution" in many ways. These guys aren't forced into anything and make more money than they would in most other jobs they could have, and mostly it's a fun job where you get to hang out with friends. This is as described to me by them as well.
And of course there are many such erotic websites, and many of them with Asian guys, and many of these Thai bar guys who get paid for the modeling jobs. So I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised that I know some of them, but I'd never really thought about it before.
So I showed the site to Man and he's giggling away, kind of enjoying looking into the bedroom windows of friends. We decided to tell our friends about the website, and see if they knew about it, and what they thought of it.
One of them thought it was cool and wants to use the addy as a marketing device. One of them was embarressed that the pics had been posted and assumed that they would be private, one had asked what they would be used for and been told the truth by the photographer. General discussion in the bar left the group of them about equally divided between those who would be ok with doing it and those who wouldn't. But the "shy" ones also wouldn't agree to be photographed in the first place, either, so that makes sense. A couple of the other guys asked for the number of the photographer so they could go do it too, cuz they wanted the money for the modeling. And everybody wanted to go look at their friends!
The ones photographed were each given about a month's pay for the time it took to have about 125 digital pics taken: maybe a couple of hours tops. I have no idea what return the photographer/webmaster makes on his initial outlay.
So, there's the story for the week from the exotic East. Thoughts, anybody?
Is this anything like all those amateur webcam sites where guys bear all with each other? That's another thing I have no experience with...

Nope, actually I meant a month's pay dancing in the bar and "entertaining" some customers pays waaay more than loads of other jobs. About 4 times better than construction work, and easily double a teacher's salary.

Wow! It would be kinda like high school again when I got to see my friends naked in the locker room. There's a few guys in my cooking class I'd love to see without clothes on. But I don't think I could pose naked. Even when I was younger an better looking it would have been way too embarrassing. ::-)
