On saturday, the glass and concrete roof of a large water amusement center collapsed under the weight of heavy snow and crushed or drowned at least 28 people, six of them being children. :'-(
Police and prosecutors have started an investigation against the Turkish construction company responsible for building the amusement center (which also houses things like a bowling alley, discotheque and rollerskate arena), but poor maintenance by the owners might also have been a factor.
Initially, it was feared a terrorist bomb was responsible, but it now seems the roof itself was the cause of the explosion-like sound that was heard when it came crashing down.
Temperatures in Moscow at the time of the accident was around -28 degrees C. Not something you want to experience when practically naked.
Fortunately, the reports of bomb explosions sent Moscow's rescue services scrambling to the scene to help the survivors. We can only hope the cause of this tragic accident is determined swiftly and precisely, and that those responsible get what they deserve!
