I had heard someone on the radio state that democracy meant "mob rule". I looked up that word and, just to be thorough, also looked up republic.
For the record.....demos, the greek root of democracy means (at least in my book) "of the mob" and democratic can mean "of or relating to the common people".
Democrat can be found between demobilize and demolish.
