Maybe this is my favorite season of the year, I'm not sure. They all have their own charm (woe to you all who live where there aren't seasons! Smile), but still, there is something special about spring. Seeing the world coming back to life from hibernation, trees and animals alike awakening from deep sleep.

I went for a short walk this evening of maybe 40-50 minutes or so, it is in the middle of the week, yet there wasn't much traffic, not much noise. I could listen to the birds without sounds from the city disturbing me.

Each bird has its own call as it seeks a mate and defends its territory. One bird cries out, another responds from the tree right next to it. I love our Swedish birds, unassuming yet flamboyant in a way. They make me feel happy.

Under the water tower shadows were long and the sun stood low in the completely clear sky - apart from condensation streaks from the odd jet airliner - yet it was an uplifting mood I was in; walking around that tall mushroom-shape assisted my thought-processes, and I was enjoying the not chilly, yet not warm air too.

That is what I like about the Swedish spring, when the air is neither cold nor warm, and more or less still and calm. If one stands in the shade, one is almost freezing, yet in the sun it can be so warm the jacket has to be unzipped! People relax a little, they open up - literally. We take it easy and rather stand and enjoy the weather outdoors rather than hurry inside like we do during the winter.

After being padded with insulation for so many months, we too feel hormones stir. Young people start to kiss and cuddle in public, driven by their own feelings.

I passed the frog pond near where I live. Soon the air will be filled by ancient amphibian quacks as horny, slimy acquatic creatures copulate and lay their jelly-like eggs. I don't know how they find it, but in a few weeks the footpath that leads up to the pond will literally be crawling with these creatures after the night falls, all of them heading towards water.

Hmmm... Maybe now I know why I like swimmer-boys so much! Sad)

Spring is great.

Spring in Japan is really awesome, in particular because of one thing: cherry blossoms. We have them back home, an occasionally tree here or there, but riding on the trains to see a sea of pink out of your window is really beautiful. Yet the blossoms only last about a week, the rains will be coming soon and tearing the fragile flowers from their respective branches.

Look at this tree. I cannot make it blossom when it suits me nor make it bear fruit before its time [...] No matter what you do, that seed will grow to be a peach tree. You may wish for an apple or an orange, but you will get a peach.

There aren't many seasons in southern Ca. Summer, definetly. No real winter to speak of. And a sort of fall/spring. But you can defintely tell when the seasons are changing. It's starting to get hot. The trees are sprouting new leaves. The flowers are blooming. The neighbor's cats are horny (Wow, can those things scream). And yes, the birds are chirping. We've got hot days and chilly nights. There won't be many rainy days any more either.

But the best part is that I'm almost over my cold and I can get out and enjoy the nice weather and all the signs of spring that go with it. Including the young men at the college across the street as they are no longer wearing their winter jackets. Cool

Speaking of young men, I saw one yesterday while at the store and I wasn't sure if I was turned on or appalled by his appearance. He looked quite disgusting, but there was also something very sexy about him.

He was Asian, possibly Japanese, but half-White also I think. About 6 ft tall, perhaps 150 lbs, shaggy hair, not too long, and dyed sort of reddish orange. He had Asian eyes, but his skin was very pale. He wore a black beach hat and round glasses with black plastic frames. Though he appeared to be in his early to mid twenties, he had some acne (not a lot) and a sort of peach-fuzz moustache (like a 14 or 15 year old boy might have. He wore a light blue sleeveless t-shirt that clung tightly to his body which was muscular, though not at all toned. He looked like he was born to be rather athletic, but probably never worked out. As a result, he appeared somewhat effeminate. He wore sort of tight-fitting, khaki pants with no pockets and flared legs (not quite bell bottoms) and pointy-toed black patent leather shoes. His posture and movements were effeminate and from the rear he could be mistaken for a woman. But from the front he was definitely male, and perhaps a quite well-endowed male aat that. ;-D His clothing didn't really match (the Queer Eye guys would have had a fit) and didn't seem to follow any particular style. I think it was his clothes that turned me off so much. I kind of got the feeling that without them, he may have actually been quite attractive. If only I could have found out. ::-)

Hmmm completely unrelated but I must say that I learned some interestign stuff about the chinese peony (spelling) when I took botany last semester *laughs* *visions of sex floats through his mind* Yes apparently the flower became famous becuase it reminded people of sex or something so they were always using it in poetry. I love spring too though for completely diffrent reasons. I love the rain!!!!! *does a dance as it poured during lunch today*
