A few days ago a bank heist took place in the Norwegian city Stavanger, in which the criminals got away with the equivalent of around SKR10 million, and a police officer was shot to death by a round to the head.

The robberers planned everything very carefully; first they parked a truck across the garage exit at the Stavanger police station and set fire to it, then they tossed smoke and teargas grenades at police who responded to the scene before fleeing. Meanwhile the actual robbery was taking place.

Afterwards, they set fire to several getaway vehicles as well.

Now, police in Göteborg where I live have recently arrested several people believed to have connections with the Norwegian robbery. Somehow a car rented here had been connected to the crime, and that led police to the three individuals. As it turns out, the car was rented only about 1km from where I live!

Weird, huh? Smile

In other news, I went to the gym today, and it felt pretty good. I plan on making a habit out of it too I might add. ...And not only because I spotted several cuties while I was doing my 55 mins of cardio! Cool

Weird that half way round the world, similar things are happening!

Bangkok is notorious for massive traffic jams much of the day, every day. Just too many cars and too few streets, despite recent efforts to improve mass transport by an overhead train and a new subway system opening next week.

That's important background because recently a major bank robbery happened, millions in cash robbed, the theives got away without killing anybody, but got into the getaway vehicle...only to be caught in a traffic jam. When the police arrived minutes later, the robbers hadn't even gotten thru the traffic light next to the bank...duh...motorcycles? bicycles?...running...? Surprised Razz Sad) Sad)

And now that there's a fitness center free in my new apartment building, I still can't make myself go very often...I've never been physically active, even when younger. I do go use the pool and the jacuzzi and steam rooms regularly, so hopefully swimming will help...but I know I should be at least using the treadmill machines every day.

Any tips for making myself do this more regularly?? Help!!

...If ALL criminals were that dumb! Crikes, they must have KNOWN they'd get stuck in a traffic jam!

What I want to know though is how the police got so fast to the scene...! Did they arrive by bike perhaps? Very Happy

China was really a model for our society, at least until that country's economic boom started. Millions of bicyclists will/are probably being replaced by cars even as we speak (type?). That sucks...

When I had my (unfortunately failed, bleh) date last year with Daya the super cute Indian guy, he said one thing he liked about Sweden is the lack of traffic. Well, WE here whine and bitch about the rush hour mess, but it's nothing compared to what he's used to. Smile

And, I'd ask Andy if he ever heard about Michael Moore running a 3-foot-high potted ficus tree for congress in the state of N.J. in the year 2000, but I don't know if he follows the news, heh heh! And yes, that's true btw. Smile It seems candidate Ficus beat the (R) candidate in at least one district with 40 votes vs. just 10 for his Human counterpart in an exit poll. Unfortunately, the district refused to count the ficus write-in votes, something that was reported as a violation of Federal voting laws. Unfortunately, the show didn't say what happened after that.

One might see this as a childish prank, but one must realize the sitting congressman was running unopposed and didn't even bother to campaign. Instead of running in his district and talking to voters etc, he was staying in his office. He didn't have a headquarter in case another candidate could challenge him to a debate. Well, as there WERE no other candidates that probably didn't strike him as a very big concern, until Michael Moore came carrying a ficus tree in one arm, heh.

The sitting candidate gets a whopping TEN votes in one particular district. Now, I don't know how big that voting district is, but if it is not at least a few thousand I'd be surprised. That's a LOUSY turnout! Can you really say it's a democracy when there's only one (human) candidate to vote for and hardly anyone can be bothered to vote for him? Isn't that horrible?!

Voting apathy seems to be spreading almost all through the western world, we have elections for the E.U. parliament this year in Sweden. Nobody's campaigning yet, few even know who represents them right now. I know a few names, but far from all. Not even half actually. I did vote last election though, I always vote when I have the chance.

Often though, it feels like choosing between two evils, hoping I pick the lesser by pure luck.

Comments, people?

that way they can dodge and weave thru the traffic. I use motorbike taxi's (guys who take you to where you want to go for roughly the same price as a meter taxi car. I like that it's faster, altho it's a bit dicey on the safety aspect.

And many of the motorbike taxi guys are waaay cute! So you can hold on tight...thus meeting some intimacy needs at the same time, lol...Sad) ::-) Surprised Surprised
